Disclosed is a disassembleable threading die comprised of two half-threading dies held together by two bolts. The threading die can be disassembled and reassembled at any points along the length of a bolt onto which the threading die is screwed.

A cleaning method allows reliable cleaning of thread roots of a female screw. A cleaning method for a female screw includes producing a jet of a cleaning liquid from a nozzle in a direction tilted from an axis of the female screw without inserting the nozzle in the female screw, and directing the jet to impinge on a thread of the female screw while rotating the jet about the axis.

A thread repair hand tool for rapidly repairing damaged threads on a threaded rod, the tool including a shell member and a core member to move inside the shell member to separate or combine a pair of threaded semi-circular arc sections.

A fastener system is provided. The fastener system includes a pair of nuts having a beveled end and opposed flats, a nut housing having a cavity, the cavity including an end wall with an aperture and a tapered interior portion to engage the beveled end, and opposing internal flats to engage the nut flats, a resilient member to urge the beveled ends against the tapered portion; and retaining element. The nuts may include tapered thread edges to accommodate damaged male threads, or cutting thread edges to repair damaged male threads.

A thread repair assembly is provided. The thread repair assembly comprises a cutting-nut housing including a first axial end, a second axial end and an internal cutting-nut interface, the first and second axial ends each having an opening. The thread repair assembly further includes a cutting nut at least partially enclosed by the cutting-nut housing and including a plurality of cutting threads configured to engage a threaded element when the assembly is urged in a first axial direction and disengage the threaded element when the thread repair assembly is urged in a second axial direction opposing the first axial direction.

Thread repair tools are disclosed. Methods of making thread repair tools, and methods of using thread repair tools are also disclosed.

An apparatus for cleaning a bolt having a threaded portion with a longitudinal axis of rotation. The apparatus includes a bolt receiving portion and a cleaning member. The bolt receiving portion has a throughway configured to receive the threaded portion of the bolt when the threaded portion is rotating about the longitudinal axis of rotation. The cleaning member is coupled to the bolt receiving portion and has a plurality of cleaning projections positioned to contact and clean the threaded portion of the bolt as the rotating threaded portion of the bolt passes through the throughway. The projections may be bristles or pins. Optionally, the bolt receiving portion may include a plurality of throughways each configured to receive a threaded portion having a different outer diameter. Optionally, the apparatus may include a handle portion that may be selectively couplable to the bolt receiving portion.

The invention relates to a thread rolling tool for rolling or repairing a thread with a tool body (12) a profiled roller (36) that is mounted on the tool body (12), and at least one counter roller (14.1) that has a counter roller rotational axis (D.sub.14.1) and is mounted on the tool body (12). According to the invention, it is recommended that the profiled roller (36) and/or the at least one counter roller (14) is mounted so that it is axially displaceable.

A thread cleaner comprising an elongated body with a drive end and an open end, with an abrasive section, a scraper section, and a brush section at the open end, the scraper section intermediate the abrasive section and the brush section, the scraper section, and brush sections oriented to apply radial scraping and brushing force to an elongated workpiece positioned in alignment with the thread cleaner's central axis, and the abrasive section oriented to apply abrasive force perpendicular to the thread cleaner's central axis to a surface workpiece.

A split re-threading die includes two halves pivotally attached to each other and defining a through-bore and a hexagonal external surface when closed. Each half has inward facing teeth at the free end. The through-bore is configured to receive an externally threaded fastener to be re-threaded and the hexagonal external surface is configured to be received within a mechanical socket. The teeth rethread the fastener as the die is turned and the teeth traverse the threads of the fastener.
