Apparatus and method for machining internal portions of a valve body
Described herein is an electric discharge machining (EDM) assembly having an EDM electrode capable of machining multiple regions of a valve seat within a valve body. The electrode includes two cutting surfaces that are separate from each other. The EDM assembly is capable of removing material from a first region of a valve seat while moving the first cutting surface in a first direction and capable of removing material from a second region while moving the second cutting surface in a second direction.
SISIC COMPONENT AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREOF
Provided is a conventionally unavailable, novel SiSiC component. The SiSiC component has at least one long hole formed therein, wherein the long hole has a diameter of 2 mm or smaller, wherein the long hole has a length of 100 mm or longer, and wherein the content of elemental Si is 10 to 60 vol %.
Method and System of Surface Polishing
A method of polishing a surface of an object disposed within a gas chamber is provided. The method includes filling the gas chamber with a discharging medium to a predefined pressure, applying a voltage between an electrode and the surface, calibrating a height of the electrode relative to the surface so as to establish electrical breakdown threshold criteria, and scanning the electrode with respect to the surface so as to sequentially position the electrode over a plurality of locations on the surface, each location characterized by a surface error. When a respective location in the plurality of locations has a surface error that meets the electrical breakdown threshold criteria, electrical breakdown occurs, whereby the electrical breakdown results in a discharging pulse that polishes the surface.
