Crash box and method for producing the same
A crash box has excellent axial crushing performance and in which, even if the sheet thickness of a tubular body constituting the crash box is smaller than 1.4 mm, good welding can be performed with the tubular body butted against a set plate. The crash box (1) having a metallic longer-length tubular body and a method for producing the crash box are provided. The tubular body has a basic cross-sectional shape that is a flat polygon surrounded by a plurality of ridges (2-1 to 2-4) extending in a longitudinal direction and a plurality of side wall portions (4), includes one or more groove portions (3-1 and 3-2) on side wall portions (4) on long sides substantially parallel to the major axis direction of the cross section that extend in longitudinal direction, and includes outward flanges (5-1 to 5-4) in an end portion in the longitudinal direction.
METHOD FOR REPAIRING MAGNESIUM CASTINGS
A method for repairing a cast component made of a magnesium-based material is disclosed. The method comprises receiving the cast component made of the magnesium-based material and adding repair material to the cast component using cold metal transfer (CMT) welding.
Nightside inclined-vertical-butting welding method
A method comprises: providing a weldment and a welded plate to which the weldment is to be welded, an end of the weldment to be welded to the welded plate being provided with a first welding face and a second welding face, the first welding face and the second welding face forming a pointed cone, the first welding face corresponding to a first welding area, and the second welding face corresponding to a second welding area; in the first welding area, welding being performed at the innermost side of the pointed cone to form a first welding pass; in the second welding area, welding being performed at the innermost side of the pointed cone to form a second welding pass, and then welding being performed at the outer side of the second welding pass to form a third welding pass adjacent to the second welding pass.
Gravity-based weld travel speed sensing system and method
A welding system includes an orientation sensing system associated with a welding torch and is configured to sense a welding torch orientation relative to a direction of gravity. The welding system also includes a processing system communicatively couple to the orientation sensing system and configured to determine an angular position of the welding torch relative to a pipe based at least in part on the sense welding torch orientation.
Method for manufacturing an effective electric contact point at the end of an electrical line
Method for manufacturing an electrically effective point of contact on the end of an electrical conductor with a plurality of stranded wires composed of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. At the end of the conductor arranged with the vertical course, initially a holder is placed surrounding the conductor so that the front side of the conductor is exposed and the point is accessible from the top. After the point of the conductor is in an axial direction, on the front surface a heat source of a temperature from 2000 C. and higher heats the surface. The material of the individual wires surrounding oxide layer are melted or steamed away until all the wires of the conductor including the same surrounding oxide layer form a one-piece combined aluminum composed contact part. After that the contact part together with the end of the conductor is cooled.
CONFORMING COOLING METHOD AND MOLD
A method of producing a conformal cooling passage in a part producing mold, and a mold provided with such a conformal cooling passage. The conformal cooling passage is produced by creating a number of open channels in a molding surface of a mold of interest, the channels substantially conforming to the contour of the molding surface. A bridging weld formed from a plurality of connected weld beads is generated in each channel so as to span and seal each channel while enclosing an open passage in the bottom thereof. The remainder of each channel above its bridging weld is filled, such as by welding, and the area of each channel is subsequently shaped to conform with the contours of the molding surface surrounding that channel. A sub-surface conformal cooling passage is thus formed in the mold.
CONTAINER FOR RADIOACTIVE WASTE
A container system for radioactive waste and method for using the same is provided. The system includes a canister configured for holding radioactive waste and a lid system. In one embodiment, the lid system comprises a two-part lid assembly including a confinement lid and a shielded lifting lid. The confinement lid is detachably mounted to the confinement lid. In use, the lifting lid supports the confinement lid for lifting and placement on the canister. The lifting lid further shields operators while the confinement lid is mounted to the canister. Thereafter, the lifting lid is removed and may be reused for confinement lid mountings on other canisters. In one embodiment, the confinement lid is bolted to the canister. The canister may be disposed in a protective overpack for transport and storage.
Fabrication layout device and method
Techniques and devices are disclosed for fabrication layout device. The device includes a table with a work surface. The work surface being a continuous surface and configured to support a plurality of railing pieces for fabrication of a railing assembly. The device further includes a beam located above the work surface. The beam is operatively coupled to the table, such that the beam moves relative to the work surface in a first direction. Attached to the beam is an ink dispenser. The ink dispenser is configured to move along the beam in a second direction different from the first direction. The ink dispenser is further configured to dispense ink onto the work surface of the table in the form of a pattern of the railing assembly. Railing pieces are positioned on the pattern so that they can be assembled to one another.
Transmission Shaft And Method And Device For The Production Thereof
A transmission shaft of a countershaft-type manual transmission is constructed from a plurality of hollow shaft portions which are butt press welded to one another, at least two of which hollow shaft portions are provided in each instance with at least one helical toothing of a fixed wheel of a spur gear stage. The hollow shaft portions provided with a helical toothing are connected to the respective adjacent hollow shaft portion in each instance so as to be rotated by a correction angle () around their center axis in proportion to a deviation (x) from their axial target position, wherein the ratio between the correction angle () and the axial deviation (x) corresponds to the pitch (s) of the helical toothing (/x=s).
CHAIN BELT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
In a chain belt having: plurality of link plates each provided with a pin hole; plurality of connecting pins to connect a part of the plurality of link plates in an endless annular form by being inserted into the pin holes across the part of the plurality of link plates in a state where the part of the plurality of link plates are overlapped; and a retainer pin welded to an end portion of the connecting pin and engaged with the link plate to prevent the link plate from coming off the connecting pin, the retainer pin is disposed in a posture in which an outer circumferential surface is in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the connecting pin, and a plurality of points on the outer circumferential surface of the retainer pin separated from each other in the circumferential direction are welded to the connecting pin.
