Work hardened welds and methods for same
A tube assembly includes at least first and second tubes configured for coupling at respective ends. The first and second tubes each include a base material, and a weld interface at the respective end. The weld interface is proximate to an inner diameter and an outer diameter of the first and second tubes, and includes a weld interface segment extending therebetween. A work hardened weld assembly couples the base material of each of the first and second tubes. The work hardened weld assembly includes a weld fusion zone between the weld interfaces of the first and second tubes and the weld interface segments of the first and second tubes. The weld fusion zone is work hardened and at least the weld interface segments of the first and second tubes are work hardened between the work hardened weld fusion zone and the base material of the first and second tubes.

MAGNETIC ELEVATOR DRIVE MEMBER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
An illustrative example embodiment of a method of making a rotary magnetic drive member includes establishing a plurality of magnet retainers on a rod using an additive manufacturing process. Magnets are inserted between the retainers with magnetic poles of axially adjacent ones of the magnets oriented with like poles facing toward a portion of one of the retainers between the adjacent ones of the magnets.
METHOD FOR REPAIRING AN UPSTREAM RAIL OF A TURBINE ENGINE TURBINE CASING
A method for repairing an upstream rail of a turbine engine turbine casing, the casing including a casing body extending along a longitudinal axis, the upstream rail including: a base including a radial surface, extending substantially radially from the casing body; a plate including an upper surface, extending substantially along the longitudinal axis; and a connection portion between the base and the plate, including a concave surface connecting the radial surface and the upper surface, the concave surface and the radial surface extending on either side of an edge, the method including: covering a surface with a solder, the surface including the upper surface and the concave surface, such that the solder extends substantially until the edge; and a step of machining the covered surface, in a single action, in the direction of the radial surface, and at least until the edge, so as to reshape the surface.
FIELD DISSIMILAR METAL WELDING TECHNOLOGY FOR ENHANCED WEAR RESISTANT HIGH MANGANESE STEEL
The present disclosure relates to a welding composition for joining high manganese steel base metals to low carbon steel base metals, as well as systems and methods for the same. The composition includes: carbon in a range of about 0.1 wt % to about 0.4 wt %; manganese in a range of about 15 wt % to about 25 wt %; chromium in a range of about 2.0 wt % to about 8.0 wt %; molybdenum in an amount of ≦ about 2.0 wt %; nickel in an amount of ≦ about 10 wt %; silicon in an amount of ≦ about 0.7 wt %; sulfur in an amount of ≦ about 100 ppm; phosphorus in an amount of ≦ about 200 ppm; and a balance comprising iron. In an embodiment, the composition has an austenitic microstructure.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER USING TWO WELDS, AND A CORRESPONDING PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER
A method for producing a plate heat exchanger and the plate heat exchanger, particularly a soldered aluminium plate heat exchanger. In the method, a heat exchanger block is provided having a plurality of partition plates and edge strips arranged between the partition plates. A connection device is provided to be mounted on the heat exchanger block. A planar region for securing the connection device to the heat exchanger block is provided with at least one welded weld bead by means of a first weld. The connection device is welded onto the weld bead by means of a second weld. The welding method used for the first weld is a friction stir welding method.
