Multi-Zone Blade Fabrication

In a method for manufacturing a turbine engine element such as a blade or vane, the element has an airfoil. The method includes: applying a load across an assembly of a first cast portion of the airfoil and a second cast portion of the airfoil; and applying current across a junction of the first cast portion and the second cast portion to fuse the second cast portion to the first cast portion.

The process comprises the following phases: providing one first bar (2) and one second bar (3) made of one metallic material and extending along relevant longitudinal directions, each provided with a first ending surface (4) and with a second ending surface (5); cutting the first bar (2) to obtain one reinforcing bar (100) insertable in a relevant profiled element for window/door frames and a residual bar (7) provided with the second ending surface (5); positioning the second bar (3) aligned with the residual bar (7) with respect to a direction of forward movement (D) substantially parallel to said longitudinal directions, with the first ending surface (4) of the second bar (3) facing the second ending surface (5) of the residual bar (7); resistance butt welding of the second bar (3) and of the residual bar (7) carried out by means of current flow through the ending surfaces (4, 5) facing each other to obtain a welded bar (10).
