A laser processing system capable of reliably determining an abnormality in a jet during laser process. The laser processing system comprises a nozzle including an emission opening configured to emit a jet of an assist gas along an optical axis of a laser beam, the nozzle being configured to form a maximum point of velocity of the jet at a position away from the emission opening; a measuring instrument configured to measure any of the velocity of the jet and a sound generated by the jet impinging on a workpiece; and an abnormality determination section configured to determine whether or not output data of the measuring instrument is different from reference data.

Laser processing head (20) of the present disclosure includes housing (30), transparent protector (40), and temperature sensor (70). Housing (30) includes an optical path of processing laser light (LB). Transparent protector (40) is detachably fixed to housing (30), passes processing laser light (LB), and suppresses dust of work material (W) entering into housing (30). Here, the dust is generated from the work material (W) irradiated with processing laser light (LB). Temperature sensor (70) detects the temperature of transparent protector (40).

A system includes an energy source, a focusing system, and a controller. The energy source is configured to output energy pulses to the focusing system. A chamber surrounds at least a portion of a metallic substrate and contain a liquid in contact with a surface of the metallic substrate. The controller is configured to cause the energy source to output energy pulses and cause the focusing system to focus a focal volume of the energy pulses at or near the surface of the metallic substrate that is in contact with the liquid to create micro-scale or smaller surface texturing on the metallic substrate.

A method of additive manufacture is disclosed. The method may include creating, by a 3D printer contained within an enclosure, a part having a weight greater than or equal to 2,000 kilograms. A gas management system may maintain gaseous oxygen within the enclosure atmospheric level. In some embodiments, a wheeled vehicle may transport the part from inside the enclosure, through an airlock, as the airlock operates to buffer between a gaseous environment within the enclosure and a gaseous environment outside the enclosure, and to a location exterior to both the enclosure and the airlock.

The invention relates to a handheld laser machining apparatus for machining a workpiece. The laser machining apparatus comprises a handheld apparatus (100) comprising an optical device for deflecting laser beams onto the workpiece, a supply unit (3) for open-loop or closed-loop control of the handheld device and/or for supplying power/fluid to the handheld device and a funnel (4) for coupling the handheld device to the workpiece. The invention also relates to a funnel (4) for a corresponding laser machining apparatus.
WET LASER CLEANING APPARATUS
A wet laser cleaning apparatus includes a machine base, a laser cleaning module, a shielding housing and a filtering device. A base material is placed in a reservoir of the machine base, into which a liquid is introduced through the filtering device. A control module drives first parallel axial track groups, a second parallel axial track group and a vertical axial track group to move an optical fiber laser knife device of the laser cleaning module to irradiate and clean the base material. A height sensor device and an orientation sensor device sense a position and a height of an object, so that the optical fiber laser knife device can automatically focus on the base material. Dusts produced after the optical fiber laser knife device has irradiated the base material are stored in the liquid, and the filtering device filters the dusts from the liquid.

A method and an apparatus for collecting powder samples in real-time in powder bed fusion additive manufacturing may involves an ingester system for in-process collection and characterizations of powder samples. A laser processing system includes: a wavelength-variable laser device configured to output each of a laser beam at an absorption line as a wavelength at which light is absorbed by oxygen and a laser beam at a non-absorption line as a wavelength at which the amount of light absorption by oxygen is smaller than at the absorption line; an optical system configured to irradiate a workpiece with the laser beam; and a laser control unit configured to control the wavelength-variable laser device, set the wavelength of the laser beam output from the wavelength-variable laser device to be the non-absorption line when laser processing is performed on the surface of the workpiece in gas containing oxygen, and set the wavelength of the laser beam output from the wavelength-variable laser device to be the absorption line when ozone cleaning is performed on the surface of the workpiece in gas containing oxygen.
