Non-consumable electrode arc-welding method
A non-consumable electrode arc-welding method is provided for causing a welding machine to output or stop a welding current in accordance with at least an ON state and an OFF state of a start signal. In the method, a start signal is switched between an ON state and an OFF state, thereby controlling the on/off operation of the welding machine. Further, an operation mode instruction signal is switched between a normal mode and an interval mode, thereby controlling the operation mode of the welding machine. When the operation mode instruction signal indicates the interval mode and also the start signal is in the ON state, the welding current is outputted in a welding current output period. Then, the output of the welding current is suspended in a welding current interval period successively following the welding current output period.
Clamp member for double-acting friction stir spot welding device, double-acting friction stir spot welding device, and double-acting friction stir spot welding method
A clamp member, for a double-acting friction stir spot welding device, is provided for the double-acting friction stir spot welding device to perform friction stir spot welding of a workpiece by using a rotary tool, and presses a surface of the workpiece while the workpiece is supported. The rotary tool has a pin member and a shoulder member. The clamp member includes an end face that comes into surface contact with the surface of the workpiece to press the surface and a protruding portion protruding from the end face in an axial direction and extending around an axis. The protruding portion is configured to press the workpiece, the clamp member surrounding an outer periphery of the shoulder member.
High-productivity hybrid induction heating/welding assembly
In certain embodiments, inductive heating is added to a metal working process, such as a welding process, by an induction heating head. The induction heating head may be adapted specifically for this purpose, and may include one or more coils to direct and place the inductive energy, protective structures, and so forth. Productivity of a welding process may be improved by the application of heat from the induction heating head. The heating is in addition to heat from a welding arc, and may facilitate application of welding wire electrode materials into narrow grooves and gaps, as well as make the processes more amenable to the use of certain compositions of welding wire, shielding gasses, flux materials, and so forth. In addition, distortion and stresses are reduced by the application of the induction heating energy in addition to the welding arc source.
POWER END FRAME WITH RESIDUAL COMPRESSIVE STRESS AND METHODS
A power end frame includes a housing and a face plate secured to the housing. During use, components of the power end frame, including the housing and the face plate, are subjected to large tensile stresses. This disclosure describes a method of imparting compressive stresses in the power end frame to resist these large tensile stresses.
Metallic member bonding device for pressing rod-shaped or cylindrical first metallic member into hole portion of annular second metallic member to bond the same and bonding method therefor
A metallic member bonding device includes a pressurizing unit, a current supply unit, and a deformation suppressing unit. The pressurizing unit pressurizes a first metallic member toward a hole portion of a second metallic member to press the first metallic member therein. The current supply unit supplies a welding current between the first metallic member and the second metallic member. The deformation suppressing unit suppresses deformation of one of the first metallic member and the second metallic member, the one member having a constituent metallic material with at least one of a proof stress and a melting temperature lower than that of the other member, the deformation being in a direction of a cross section crossing a direction of the press-in. Then, the deformation suppressing unit is provided in a region covering at least a plastic flow range in the press-in direction.
Laser welded damper having enhanced fatigue performance
A damper for suppressing vibrations of a crankshaft of a vehicle is disclosed. The damper comprises a hub having a circular wall extending about a rotational axis to define a bore formed therethrough. The wall comprises a step portion radially extending therefrom and having a first arcuate portion formed thereon. The hub comprises a body portion radially extending from the wall to a lip to define an open cavity. The damper comprises a weld nugget disposed between the hub and the plate. The weld nugget has a root extending therethrough concurrent with the rotational axis to join the hub and the plate. The root has tip defining a profile such that the hollow channel is disposed at an angle tangent to the profile to lessen cracking due to stress.
