Additive manufacturing of metal matrix composite feedstock
A feedstock for an additive manufacturing process includes a pre-ceramic polymer intermixed with a base material. A method of additive manufacturing includes melting and pyrolizing a feedstock containing metal and a pre-ceramic polymer. An article of manufacture includes an additive manufacturing component including a pyrolized feedstock.
Electrodes for Gas- and Liquid-Cooled Plasma Torches
The invention relates to a method for conducting gas in a gas-cooled plasma torch wherein the plasma torch has a plasma torch body which holds an electrode with an open end and a closed end. A cavity extends from the open end in the direction of the closed end, and which, with a spacing in an axial direction, holds a nozzle by means of a nozzle holder. The nozzle has a central opening with an upstream inlet end, into which the electrode projects, and with an outlet end with a nozzle bore and is surrounded by a nozzle cap and/or a nozzle protection cap. The plasma torch body has an opening for a gas feeder, which opening is fluidically connected to a cooling tube which projects into the open end of the electrode.
FLUX AND SOLDER PASTE
A solder paste is adopted, the solder paste containing: a solder alloy powder in which a content of solder alloy particles having a particle size of 8 μm or less is 99% by mass or more with respect to a total mass of the solder alloy powder; and a flux. This flux contains an acid-modified rosin, a solvent, an activator, and a thixotropic agent, in which the activator contains a halogenated aliphatic compound, and a dicarboxylic acid represented by General Formula (2).

ALUMINUM BRAZING SHEET AND METHOD FOR FLUX-FREE BRAZING OF ALUMINUM MEMBERS
An aluminum brazing sheet having a multi-layer structure of two layers or more, an aluminum alloy brazing material being located on an outermost surface by being cladded on one surface or both surfaces of a core material, and the aluminum brazing sheet being applied to brazing in which the aluminum brazing sheet is bonded to a member to be brazed made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy without using a flux in a non-oxidizing atmosphere without decompression. The brazing material is made of an Al—Si—Mg—Sn brazing material containing, by mass %, 0.01% to 2.0% of Mg, 1.5% to 14% of Si, and 0.005% to 1.5% of Sn, and in observation in a surface direction before brazing, there are more than 10 Mg—Sn compounds with a circle equivalent diameter of 0.01 μm or more and less than 5.0 μm in the Al—Si—Mg—Sn brazing material per 10000 μm.sup.2 field of view.
FLUX AND SOLDER PASTE
A flux according to the present invention is a flux for soldering, the flux including: an unsaturated aliphatic alcohol having one unsaturated bond, a thixotropic agent, and a solvent, in which the unsaturated aliphatic alcohol includes oleyl alcohol, and a content of the oleyl alcohol is 2.0 mass % or more and 12.0 mass % or less based on the entire flux.
WELDING ELECTRODE WITH FUNCTIONAL COATINGS
The disclosed technology generally relates welding electrodes, and more particularly to consumable welding electrodes having functional coatings. In one aspect, a welding electrode comprises a core wire having a base metal composition and two or more coatings covering at least a portion of the core wire. The two or more coatings comprise an electrically conductive coating including one or more electrically conducting elements or compounds in addition to or other than copper (Cu). The two or more coatings additionally comprises an additional functional coating including one or more additional elements or compounds adapted to modify a surface tension of a molten droplet formed from the welding electrode. In another aspect, a method of manufacturing a welding electrode comprises providing the core wire having the base metal composition and forming the two or more coating layers.
COMPOSITE SOLDER BALLS METALLISED ON THE SURFACE AND CALIBRATED FOR THE ASSEMBLY OF ELECTRONIC BOARDS
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing composite solder balls that are metallized on the surface and calibrated, these balls comprising a core consisting of a spherical support particle of diameter Do made of expanded polystyrene and having an intergranular porosity of at least 50%, and a shell covering said support particle and formed by a plurality of metallic surface layers. The present invention also relates to balls that can be obtained by the method according to the invention, as well as to the use thereof for the assembly of electronic boards.
Laminate including weldable regions
A laminate sheet including a weldable margin is formed by laminating metal sheets having a core layer disposed therebetween. The core layer is formed of a core material which includes one or more of a viscoelastic, adhesive and acoustic material. The core layer is selectively distributed such that the laminate sheet includes an adhered region providing a laminate structure, and a non-adhered region including a weldable margin. The non-adhered region is adjacent an edge of the core layer and is characterized by a gap between the first and second metal sheets and by an absence of the core layer in the gap. The non-adhered region defines a weldable margin adjacent a core edge configured such that a weld is formable in the weldable margin without heat affecting the core layer. The laminate sheet can be joined by fasteners installed in the non-adhered region.
