A system for performing exothermic operations or oxygen delivery uses a rod and handle configuration to create a flowpath of oxygen. The rod includes cables having stainless steel fibers that burn using the oxygen within a hollow center area. While burning, the rod cuts through material. A sheath covers the covers to contain the gases and prevent unraveling of the cables. The handle attaches to the rod and provides control of the flow of oxygen to the rod. A manifold fixing in place bottles of oxygen connects to the handle and can be fixed to provide different mixtures from different bottles. The rod is disconnected when needed to fix a mask thereto for delivering breathable oxygen to a patient.

The preparation and use of particulate metallic solder alloy having particles of a single chemical composition is described. The particles of the particulate metallic solder alloy have a bimodal size distribution in which particles in a smaller size range have a largest dimension that is smaller than a smallest dimension of particles in a larger size range of the bimodal distribution. In some examples the particles in the smaller size mode have dimensions in the range of 1 to 100 nm. In some examples, the particles in the larger size mode have dimensions in the range of 2 to 75 microns in dimension. In some examples, a halogen-free flux is used. In some examples, a solvent is used to make a paste.

A solder preform in the shape of a solder tube or washer includes: a cylindrically shaped solder alloy body including an inner surface, an outer surface, a first end, a second end, a first opening located at the first end, and a second opening located at the second end, the second end interlocking with the first end, and the first opening and the second opening cut along an entire height of the solder alloy body; and a flux core embedded in the solder alloy body between the inner surface and the outer surface, the flux core including a thermochromic indicator. During reflow soldering, the flux core including the thermochromic indicator flows out of the first opening of the first end and the second opening of the second end to coat the inner surface of the solder alloy body and the outer surface of the solder alloy body.
