METHODS OF FURNACE-LESS BRAZING
A method of furnace-less brazing of a substrate is provided. The method includes providing a substrate having a brazing region thereon; disposing braze precursor material containing a nickel powder, an aluminum powder, and a platinum group metal powder on the brazing region; and initiating an exothermic reaction of the braze precursor material such that the exothermic reaction produces a braze material that reaches a braze temperature above the liquidus temperature for the braze material. A braze precursor material is also provided.
TECHNIQUES AND ASSEMBLIES FOR JOINING COMPONENTS
The disclosure describes example techniques and assemblies for joining a first component and a second component. The techniques may include positioning the first and second component adjacent to each other to define a joint region between adjacent portions of the first component and the second component, the joint region being coated with an adhesion resistant coating. The techniques may also include positioning a braze material in the joint region, heating the braze material to form an at least softened material, and cooling the at least softened material to form a mechanical interlock including the braze material in the joint region joining the first and second components. The braze material does not metallurgically bond to the joint surface.

A build plate-clamping assembly may include a work station having a build plate-receiving surface and a lock-pin extending from the build plate-receiving surface of the work station. A system may include a powder source; a powder delivery device; an energy delivery device; and a computing device. The computing device may be configured to: control the powder source to deliver metal powder to the powder delivery device; control the powder delivery device to deliver the metal powder to a surface of an abrasive coating; and control the energy delivery device to deliver energy to at least one of the abrasive coating or the metal powder to cause the metal powder to be joined to the abrasive coating.

A method of diffusion bonding utilizing vapor deposition comprises depositing a coating from a vapor comprising a temperature suppressant element onto a surface of a first component comprising a metal alloy, thereby forming a vapor deposited coating comprising the temperature suppressant element; assembling the first component with a second component comprising a mating surface to form an assembly, the vapor deposited coating contacting the mating surface; and exposing the assembly to a bonding temperature and a compressive force, thereby diffusion bonding the first component to the second component and forming a monolithic third component.
METHOD OF REPROCESSING METAL PRODUCT
A method of reprocessing a metal product includes a welding step for welding a dummy member to the metal product, a reprocessing step for reprocessing the metal product in a state where the metal product is supported by a first support unit and the dummy member is supported by a second support unit, and a removal step for removing the dummy member from the metal product after the reprocessing step. The reprocessing of the metal product while the metal product is fixed is thus enabled without restriction from the shape of the metal product.

Nickel-based superalloy suitable for additive manufacture, a method, and a product includes a special selection of the elements silicon, boron, zirconium, and hafnium. The nickel-based superalloy includes at least the following (in wt.%): carbon (C) 0.04%-0.08% chromium (Cr) 9.8%-10.2% cobalt (Co) 10.3%-10.7% molybdenum (Mo) 0.4%-0.6% tungsten (W) 9.3%-9.7% aluminum (Al) 5.2%-5.7% tantalum (Ta) 1.9%-2.1% boron (B) 0.0025%-0.01% zirconium (Zr) 0.0025%-0.01% hafnium (Hf) 0.1%-0.3%, and optionally yttrium (Y) and residual nickel (Ni).
