METHOD OF GLUING METAL PARTS
20210079940 · 2021-03-18 ·

A method of gluing a metal part to another part for use in a personal care device such as an electric toothbrush. The method includes steps of providing a metal, such as steel, part, and another, metal, part; treating a surface portion of the metal part with ultra-fast laser pulses having a pulse length in the femtosecond range, e.g., from about 1 femtosecond to about 990 femtoseconds, so that a surface layer of the metal surface is removed; applying an adhesive to the treated surface of the metal part or to a surface of the other part; and gluing the metal part and the other part together.

A pulley assembly having a body, a shaft mount and a plurality of bolts is disclosed. The body is aligned to the shaft mount by providing a tight tolerance between a shoulder portion of the bolt and a neck portion of a counter sunk hole formed in the body. Additionally, an outer surface of the body may have a pattern of friction lines or patches formed by fusing particulate matter to the outer surface with heat generated by a laser beam.

SURFACE MODIFICATION OF WELDING WIRE DRIVE ROLLS
20210078109 · 2021-03-18 ·

A welding wire drive roll has an outer circumferential surface having a circumferential groove projecting radially inward from the outer circumferential surface. The circumferential groove is formed by a first sidewall having a first sidewall surface, a second sidewall having a second sidewall surface, and a groove base extending between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. The first sidewall surface includes a first surface finishing comprising a first ring of laser-formed craters along the first sidewall surface. The second sidewall surface includes a second surface finishing comprising a second ring of laser-formed craters along the second sidewall surface.

A laser cutting method includes a step of determining a material to be removed and dividing the material to be removed into a plurality of material chips so as thereby to organize a machining plan for laser cutting; and, a step of, according to the machining plan for laser cutting, moving a laser along a boundary defining the material to be removed on the workpiece to perform cutting in a first direction and a second direction, such that the material chips can be separated from the workpiece orderly piece by piece so as to form a specific pattern. While in laser cutting, the method removes the material piece by piece. With the laser to remove the material chips through cutting along the boundary, the pattern on the workpiece is thus finished equivalently by the laser. Thereupon, the machining time can be significantly reduced.

Textured needle for improved piercing performance in liquid chromatography applications

A needle for aspirating a sample from a sample source and injecting the sample into a liquid chromatography system, the needle including a needle body having a rough textured surface finish for at least a portion of the needle body, wherein the rough textured surface finish reduces a coefficient of friction of the needle body, is provided. Furthermore, an associated method is also provided.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR WELDING TOGETHER TWO JOINING PARTNERS BY MEANS OF FRICTION STIR WELDING, WHICH PREVENTS THE JOINING PARTNERS BEING CONTAMINATED BY THE WELDING RESIDUE

The invention relates to a method and to a device for welding together two joining partners by means of friction stir welding, which prevents the joining partners being contamined by welding residue. The method comprises the following features: a welding head that can be integrated into any machine, said welding head being in the form of a spindle drive driven by a drive unit, comprising a mounting flange for securing the device assisting the welding process, and a clamping system for receiving a frustoconical-shaped tool having a welding and smoothing shoe for guiding a welding pin (11), a device (17) integrated into the welding and smoothing shoe for grinding the waste produced during the welding process, the waste produced during welding is then removed by means of one inlet channels for fluid arranged in the upper and/or lower area of the frustoconical-shaped tool for the fluid (20, 18) and a suction channel (19).
