A pulley assembly having a body, a shaft mount and a plurality of bolts is disclosed. The body is aligned to the shaft mount by providing a tight tolerance between a shoulder portion of the bolt and a neck portion of a counter sunk hole formed in the body. Additionally, an outer surface of the body may have a pattern of friction lines or patches formed by fusing particulate matter to the outer surface with heat generated by a laser beam.
Cutting tools comprising ultrahard materials and methods of making the same
In one aspect, methods of fabricating cutting tools employing ultrahard materials are described herein. A method of making a cutting tool comprises electronically loading a cutting tool pattern into a laser machining system and providing a blank to the laser machining system, the blank comprising a layer of ultrahard material. The cutting tool pattern is administered to the blank via a single laser processing step to form the cutting tool including at least one as-formed cutting edge comprising the ultrahard material and having an edge radius less than 10 m. The single laser processing step can provide the cutting tool in final form, thereby obviating further processing steps.

The invention relates to an insert brazed on a body of cutting tools (101), consisting of: a metal substrate (11), in the form of plates, having a surface for attachment to the tool body; a high-temperature, brazing, alloy layer (12); an intermediate layer; and a ceramic plate (14). The brazing alloy layer connects the metal substrate (11) of the ceramic plate (14) via the metal layer (13). A low-temperature brazing layer (1) connects the insert (1, 1) to the body of the tool (101).

Hardfacing is used to protect wear surfaces of drill bits and other downhole tools. A hardfacing member can be formed by heating a metal matrix material, e.g., via a laser process, injecting a plurality of particles into the heated metal matrix material, disposing the mixture on at least a portion of a substrate thereby forming a hardfacing member having a particle-embedded metal matrix material, and attaching the hardfacing member to a main body.
TOOL BLADES
There is provided a tool blade comprising a backing strip, binding material forming a binder layer, with discrete regions of binder layer formed as teeth along an edge of the backing strip, and abrasive particles bound to the backing strip by the binder layer, wherein each tooth is formed with a ductile region bonded to the backing strip, a crown and an intermediate region of thermal material disposed between the ductile region and the crown so as to absorb thermal expansion and contraction. The binding material powder is heated by laser beam to form a binder layer which binds the abrasive particles to the backing strip. The laser beam is used to form discrete regions of binder layer as teeth. The binding material is typically braze material.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AN ENDOSCOPE
A method for the manufacturing an endoscope, the method including: providing a window having a lateral peripheral surface and a flat surface, the window is provided with a metal coating on a lateral peripheral surface and/or an edge region of the flat surface, and the flat surface of the window is provided with a solder preform, inserting the window provided with the solder preform into a window seat of an endoscope shaft of the endoscope, where the flat surface of the window one of faces an interior space of the endoscope shaft or faces away from the interior space of the endoscope shaft, and subsequent to the inserting, heating the solder preform with a heating device such that solder material of the solder preform is distributed between the window and the window seat and, after the solder material cools, solder is arranged between the window and the window seat.
HAND TOOL AND METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION
A metal hand tool including a handle attached to a blade piece and method of construction. The blade piece includes a blade opposite an elongated tang. The handle is made up of two, welded, symmetrical handle halves, each handle half having an opening for receiving a hang hole piece and a notched distal end for forming a handle opening to receive the blade piece elongated tang. In an embodiment, the handle includes a curved distal end accommodating a curved welded connection between the blade piece and the handle. The hand tool further includes a hang hole piece configured for placement through the hang hole openings in the handle and for welded connection to the handle. In an embodiment, the elongated tang includes a hang hole opening through which the hang hole extends. Some embodiments further include one or more tang guide pieces welded to the interior of the handle.
ROUGHING TOOL AND METHOD FOR ITS MANUFACTURE
The invention relates to a method for producing a roughing tool (1), particularly a circular milling tool, comprising the following steps: fitting a lateral surface of a tool base body (10) that can be rotatably driven about an axis of rotation (2) with a number of cutting element blanks (20) that are staggered in the axial and/or peripheral direction, such that a free edge of each cutting element blank (20) protrudes out of the lateral surface in the mounted state; inserting a microtoothing comprising a plurality of axially spaced cutting teeth (21) into the respective free edges of the cutting element blanks (20) by a material removal method, preferably by thermal machining, particularly preferably by eroding, in the premounted state on the tool base body (10). The invention further relates to a roughing tool produced by means of such a method.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING CUTTING TOOL
A controller performs a first process of scanning a cylindrical irradiation region including a focused spot of laser light emitted from a laser light emitter to machine a flank face side of a workpiece to manufacture a cutting tool having a plurality of cutting edges arranged in line. In the first process, the controller scans the cylindrical irradiation region along a scanning path that has periodicity and changes a machining depth to form the plurality of cutting edges. The controller further performs a second process of scanning the cylindrical irradiation region including the focused spot of the laser light emitted in a direction different from an irradiation direction of the laser light in the first process to machine a rake face side of the workpiece.
