A welded shaped steel manufacturing device includes: a plate conveying device configured to convey a web member and two flange members in a conveyance direction; and a laser welding device configured to laser-weld butt portions of ends of the web member butting against the two flange members for weld-bonding, wherein the plate conveying device includes a web member holding device having surface side rollers arranged at intervals in the conveyance direction in a position not to block laser irradiation from the laser welding device toward welding points, and wherein the web member is held with the surface side rollers over a predetermined range in the conveyance direction, and wherein side ends of the surface side rollers facing the two flange members are positioned along boundaries of areas having spatters dispersed from the welding points in a degree exceeding a predetermined value.

A plate is continuously press-bent, into a shaped member having a recess opening at one surface (i.e., lower surface). Then, the plate is bent back by pressing, at the front and rear ends, covering the openings of the recess and a side frame having open cross sections, each with a gap, is thereby formed. In the forming step, the side frame is not welded and has open cross sections, each with a gap. The side frames are then subjected to the next step (i.e., step of assembling the seat frame). In the step of assembling the seat frame, the side frames and coupling members are welded together, constituting a substantially rectangular seat frame. As the side frames are so welded in step of assembling the seat frame, a rigid structure each having closed cross sections with no gaps is formed.

A plasma-torch cutting machine gantry moves in a first axis and the torch mounted through a pantograph to a drive box moves along the gantry in a second axis. The drive box rotates the torch about a third axis, and tilts the torch about a fourth axis. The drive box moves vertically in a fifth axis. The torch is mountable with tip at pantograph focal point or in an extended position. A controller firmware computes and apply offsets in the first, second and fifth axis to maintain the plasma torch tip in desired position despite the torch being mounted in extended position, rotation and tilt of the torch. In embodiments the torch is rotatable /+90 degrees from vertical; and a laser scanner maps surfaces and edges of beams to determine movements and rotations for cutting beams.

Through the production method, the assembly and welding flow type machining of the stiffening plate can be implemented, thereby effectively improving machining efficiency.
