Piston and Method of Piston Remanufacturing
A method of remanufacturing a piston includes machining an exterior surface of a body of the piston to define a reference surface. The reference surface is inwardly offset relative to a portion of the exterior surface adjacent the reference surface. The body is made from a body material comprising a metal. A layer of a cold spray powder is applied to the reference surface via cold spraying to define a piston blank surface. The piston blank surface is outwardly offset relative to the portion of the exterior surface adjacent the reference surface. The cold spray powder is made from a powder material comprising the metal. The piston blank surface is machined to define a piston finish surface. The piston finish surface has a dimension which is within a predetermined range.
Used piston processing and repair strategies for populating replacement piston inventory
Processing used pistons includes receiving defective and non-defective pistons removed from service, sorting the used pistons into standard and expanded processing categories, and repairing a defect in pistons in the expanded processing category via welding. An inventory of interchangeable replacement pistons is populated with remanufactured pistons from both the standard and expanded processing categories.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REFURBISHING A PLUNGER OF A GAS WELL SYSTEM
The disclosure presents systems and methods for refurbishing an artificial gas lift plunger of a gas well system. According to the embodiments described herein, the systems and methods can remove a portion of a plunger body of a cylindrical artificial gas lift plunger of a gas well system. The removed portion(s) of the plunger body can cause the plunger body to be radially symmetric with a uniform body thickness along the length of the plunger body. Further, body material can be deposited onto the plunger body, substantially adhering to the plunger body and forming an increased thickness of the plunger body. Moreover, body material can be removed from the plunger body to cause a substantially uniform thickness of the plunger body.
Apparatus and method for extracting a seized yaw piston from a wind turbine housing
A device and method for removing a seized yaw piston from a wind turbine housing is disclosed. The device features a boring plug with retention screws to secure the piston during operation and mounting plates for attaching the boring motor. The boring motor operates a cutter to remove the piston's core. The rotary motor is manually rotated allowing the cutting wheel to create a separating cut designed to sever a mushroomed ring from the barrel of the yaw piston. A puller tool, equipped with expandable wedge plates and a puller screw, grips the piston barrel through the separating cut. A hydraulic actuator, connected to the puller screw, applies force to extract the piston barrel. A tube spacer ensures proper alignment, and manual tools assist in breaking the mushroomed ring for easy removal.

Thermal sprayed engine block remanufacturing
A method of remanufacturing an engine block includes providing an engine block having at least one cylinder bore with a bore interior surface having a thermal spray coating deposited thereon, determining at least a portion of the thermal spray coating is out of specification, performing a laser texture ablation (LTA) process on the thermal spray coating to remove at least a portion of the thermal spray coating and leave a textured surface, and performing a thermal spray coating operation by spraying an additional thermal spray coating on the textured surface, to thereby prevent scrapping of the engine block with the out of specification thermal spray coating.

Broken bolt removal template for cylinder head
Embodiments of the apparatus relate to a template used to assist in the removal of broken bolts from an intake manifold mounting fasteners. The apparatus includes a template having a plurality of apertures. When the template is used with a cylinder head, one or more of the apertures is designated as an insertion aperture and one or more of the apertures is designated as a connection apertures. Insertion apertures align with bolt holes of the cylinder head containing broken bolts, and connection apertures align with empty bolt holes of the cylinder head that may be used to secure the template to the cylinder head. The template is used to guide a drill bit or other tools through the insertion apertures as the drill bit or other tool performs work to remove a broken bolt within the cylinder head.
