BRACES, METHOD AND PROCESS OF USE THEREOF FOR THE REPAIR OF A STORAGE RACK
20220143764 · 2022-05-12 · ·

The present disclosure relates to a new method, system, and process for the repair and management of repair of a rack system. More specifically the present disclosure relates to using braces of standard sizes, pre-Certified or not, as part of a new method, and process for the onsite repair of slightly damaged elements of wholesale or storage rack systems and associated process of qualification and certification thereof. Shaped repair braces, designed to be mechanically superior to damaged pieces they replace, allow for the off-site pre-certification, off-site selection, and installation of these braces with a possibility of automatic or semi-automatic recertification of the repaired rack system when the brace is added. The process also allows for the use of one or a set of pre-certified braces and under a controlled process of determination of which brace can be used (using a software or not) and resulting in pre-certification of the system once the brace is successfully put in place.

Crack stopper for welds
11311972 · 2022-04-26 · ·

A method for joining two structural elements by welding, in particular by butt welding comprises forming a weld line joining the two structural elements; and adding material across the weld line, thereby forming one or more crack stoppers for limiting crack propagation along the weld line. The one or more crack stoppers each have a limited extension along the weld line as seen in relation to a length of the weld line. A structural system comprising two structural elements joined by the method is disclosed. The method may be applied, e.g., to components of aircraft engines.

REPAIRING LASER WELDING METHOD AND REPAIRING LASER WELDING DEVICE

Irradiation with a laser beam is performed along a welding bead, while the laser beam is aimed, as an irradiation point of the laser beam, at a contact point between a deck plate and a U-rib that is contained in a non-welded portion of a root part, from a side of the welding bead of the root part. Thereby, it is possible to remove a crack beginning at the non-welded portion of the root part generated at a joining portion between the deck plate and the U-rib of a steel floor slab, by the irradiation with the laser beam.

Method of repairing a disk stack

A method for repairing a disk stack includes providing a disk stack comprising a plurality of original disks, each of the original disks defining a groove pattern, the disk stack defining a damaged region; removing the damaged region from the disk stack to define an insert opening in the disk stack; providing a disk stack repair insert comprising a replacement disk segment; and inserting the disk stack repair insert into the insert opening to repair the damaged region.

REPAIR PROCESS USING LASER METAL POWDER DEPOSITION

A laser metal powder deposition method is described which can be utilized for the repair of cast stainless steel components used in nuclear environments. Internal defects found in a component (200) during routine maintenance and refurbishment are identified and then excavated to form a cavity (210). The cavity is filled by multiple layers (310.sub.1, 310.sub.2, . . . , 310.sub.N) of laser metal powder deposition and then checked for its integrity.

Tool for extracting shims from a turbomachine

An extraction tool for extracting a shim located in a turbomachine and provided with a through-hole, includes an extractor pin configured to be inserted into the through-hole of the shim; a first gripping member with a first distal end intended to be positioned opposite the through-hole on a first side of the shim and arranged to retain a first end of the extractor pin; and a second gripping member including a second distal end intended to be positioned opposite the through-hole on a second, opposite side of the shim, and arranged to retain a second, opposite end of the extractor pin, after the extractor pin has been inserted into the through-hole of the shim.

Method of manufacturing turbine airfoil and tip component thereof using ceramic core with witness feature

Methods of manufacturing or repairing a turbine blade or vane are described. The airfoil portions of these turbine components are typically manufactured by casting in a ceramic mold, and a surface made up of the cast airfoil and at the least the ceramic core serves as a build surface for a subsequent process of additively manufacturing the tip portions. The build surface is created by removing a top portion of the airfoil and the core, or by placing an ultra-thin shim on top of the airfoil and the core. The overhang projected by the shim is subsequently removed. These methods are not limited to turbine engine applications, but can be applied to any metallic object that can benefit from casting and additive manufacturing processes. The present disclosure also relates to finished and intermediate products prepared by these methods.
