Lock and pin combination for cold working cracks
11465246 · 2022-10-11 · ·

A lock and pin for the structural and fluid tight repair of cracks not amenable to high temperature repairs or synthetic material patches. Fluid tight pins and locks seal the crack while one or more locks prevent the crack from growing. These repairs need to endure the remaining life cycle of the machinery part while withstanding all the strain, pressure, heat and expansion and contraction of the part before the crack(s) were formed. Often these cracks evolved due to engineering design flaws that will require even greater strength from these areas than when new.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING A SURFACE OF A COKE PLANT

The present technology relates to systems and methods for reducing leaks in a system for coking coal. For example, some embodiments provide systems and method for treating a cracked or leaking surface in a system for coking coal. In particular, the present technology includes systems having one or more substances configured to reduce an airflow through one or more cracks by creating an at least partially impermeable patch. The present technology further includes methods for treating surfaces having one or more cracks to reduce an airflow through the one or more cracks.

METHOD OF REMOVING CONTAMINANTS FROM A DIFFUSION-COATED COMPONENT
20220288653 · 2022-09-15 ·

A method of removing contaminants from a surface of a gas turbine engine component protected by a diffusion coating that comprises an additive layer on the surface of the component and a diffusion zone in the surface of the component. The method includes subjecting the surface containing contaminants to laser beam pulses to remove contaminants from the component such that contaminants on the surface of the component are removed without damaging or removing the diffusion zone of the diffusion coating. Methods for controlled removal of at least a portion of a thickness of a diffusion coating from a coated superalloy component are also provided.

Systems and methods for thrust reverser corrosion damage repair

Systems and methods for repairing corrosion damage of a part of a thrust reverser assembly. The method includes removing the part having an inner surface and an outer surface. The method also includes removing an outer skin from the inner surface and the outer surface of the part. The method further includes installing a ply of synthetic fiber material onto an area of the inner surface or the outer surface of the part. The method also includes installing one or more doublers onto the ply of synthetic fiber material and heat curing layers of film adhesive. The method further includes applying an edge seal to gaps between the one or more doublers and the inner surface or outer surface of the part. The method also includes installing the outer skin to the inner surface and the outer surface of the part and installing the part to the thrust reverser assembly.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INTEGRAL TURBINE BLADE REPAIR
20220298919 · 2022-09-22 · ·

Repaired rotors are provided. The rotors are repaired by using an indenter apparatus for plastically straining original portions of the rotor and adjacent repair welds. The weld nugget, adjacent heat affected zones, and the adjacent parent-metal portions or new metal portions, are indented at a weld nugget and heat affected zone, to produce threshold levels of uniform plastic strain which meet or exceed plastic strain levels that provide, when the weld nugget and heat affected zone is heat treated, a recrystallized grain structure metallurgically comparable to the grain structure of the original parent-metal of the rotor. Repaired integrally bladed rotors for gas turbine engines, such as aircraft engines, are provided. Blades for gas turbine engines, including integrally bladed rotors, may be advantageously provided, having been manufactured or repaired as described.
