Key duplication system
A key-duplicating system comprises a network that includes a multiplicity of kiosks at a multiplicity of different locations, each of the kiosks having a customer interface and a processor coupled to the customer interface. A remote central server coupled to the kiosks is adapted to receive, from the kiosks, information identifying master keys to be duplicated. A key analysis module uses the information identifying master keys to be duplicated to derive information required to produce duplicates of the identified master keys, and a key duplicating module uses that information to produce duplicates of said identified master keys.
IDENTIFICATION MODULE FOR KEY MAKING MACHINE
An identification module is disclosed for use in a key making machine. The identification module may have a key receiving assembly configured to receive only a shank of an existing key. The identification module may also have a tip guide, configured to receive a tip of the shank of the existing key. The tip guide may have a slot that exposes a tip end of the shank. The identification module may also have an imaging assembly configured to capture an image of the tip end through the slot.

DEVICE FOR ENGRAVING A KEY
A key-cutting machine includes: a support structure; a front operational area which is accessible by an operator; at least one milling and/or cutting unit which is positioned in the front operational area and which includes at least one end mill, and/or another cutting member, to carry out a bitting processing of a key. The key-cutting machine also includes at least one clamp, which is positioned in the front operational area, to hold the key to be machined, so that a face of the key to be engraved is arranged substantially horizontally. The key-cutting machine also includes a device for engraving at least one face of the head of said key, said device being positioned inside the front operational area of said duplicating machine; and at least one pair of engraving tools mounted on a support unit. Each engraving tool includes cutting sections for engraving a corresponding face of a key.

FABRICATION SYSTEM FOR KEY MAKING MACHINE
A fabrication system is disclosed for use in a key making machine. The fabrication system may have a housing with a slot configured to receive a key blank, and a receiving unit configured to accept a shank of the key blank at the slot. The receiving unit may be configured to mechanically align the shank as it is inserted by a user. The fabrication system may also have a clamp movable between an open position and a closed position, and an actuator. The actuator may be configured to move the receiving unit and the key blank to the clamp, and to move the receiving unit away from the key blank after the clamp has moved to the closed position.

RESET MECHANISM
The invention relates to a reset mechanism of the key duplication device which comprises a reset apparatus, a spindle and a body, wherein the spindle is inserted into the body and is rotatably connected to the body. Between workspace and a loading area, the body is repeatedly moveable along the spindle. The reset mechanism comprises an elastic member connected with the body. Elastic forces of the elastic member always act on the body and move the body toward the workspace. After the body is rotated to the loading area against the elastic forces of the elastic member, when a withdrawal force exceeds the elastic forces, the body automatically returns to the workspace under the influence of the elastic forces. The fewer and easier operating steps the more efficient work of the reset mechanism is, and the mechanism more conforms to the ergonomics design.
KEY DUPLICATION MACHINE
Apparatus, methods, and other embodiments associated with a key duplication machine are described. In one embodiment, an assembly for duplicating a master key includes an optical imaging device, a logic, a clamping assembly, and a cutting member. The optical imaging device is capable of capturing an optical image of at least a portion of the master key. The logic is capable of determining a key pattern of the master key from the optical image of the master key. The clamping assembly is capable of clamping a key blank and the cutting member is capable of cutting a key pattern into said key blank.
