Processes and tooling associated with diffusion bonding the periphery of a cavity-back airfoil

A fixture assembly includes a first fixture portion, a second fixture portion that interfaces with the first fixture portion, and a sub-fixture movably mounted to the first fixture portion. A multiple of actuators selectively move the sub-fixture toward the second fixture portion. A method of manufacturing a fan blade includes deploying the sub-fixture from the first fixture portion to effectuate a peripheral diffusion bond to join the blade body and the cover of the fan blade.

TURBINE STATOR BLADE MADE OF CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE MATERIAL

A turbine stator blade made of ceramic matrix composite material includes a hollow blade profile and has a trailing edge and a leading edge, the blade including a first portion including an extrados face and a second portion distinct from the first portion including an intrados face, the first and second portions being connected to one another by a connection interface present at least on the trailing edge or leading edge, the connecting interface including a region of overlap between the first and second portions present on at least one longitudinal end of the blade profile and intended to be present outside a flow path of a gas stream of the turbine, the blade also including a platform present at a longitudinal end of the blade profile and that includes a first portion integral with the extrados face and a second part integral with the intrados face.

TURBINE BLADE TIP, TURBINE BLADE AND METHOD

A turbine blade tip, turbine blade and method where improved cooling is made possible by an improved cooling structure with cooling air holes inside a depression in a blade tip and a special arrangement of multiple cooling air holes which are supplied by a single cooling air channel inside a wall.

Component with mechanical locking features incorporating adaptive cooling and method of making

A hot gas path component assembly includes a first component portion that includes a first set of interlocking features and a second component portion that includes a second set of interlocking features mechanically coupled to the first set of interlocking features. A fill material is disposed at an interface between at least one surface of the first set of interlocking features and at least one surface of the second set of interlocking features. The fill material is disposed during a joining process. The second component portion is joined to the first component portion via both the fill material and the first and second sets of interlocking features.

COMPRESSOR WHEEL ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A COMPRESSOR WHEEL ARRANGEMENT

A compressor wheel arrangement for an electrically powered turbocharger, which can be connected with a rotor shaft of the turbocharger, having a compressor wheel made of a first metallic material, a shaft made of a second metallic material, which is tightly connected with the compressor wheel, at least one permanent magnet, which is non-rotatably arranged on the section of the shaft, in a ring-shaped area around a section of the shaft that extends behind the compressor wheel, between a casing and the shaft.

A method of joining first and second turbine vanes is provided. The method includes casting and machining each of the first and second turbine vanes, coating each of the first and second turbine vanes with thermal barrier coating (TBC) and executing field assisted sintering technology (FAST) processing to join the first and second turbine vanes.

Layer debonding

A method of debonding a first layer from a second layer, wherein the first layer is bonded to the second layer by an adhesive located between the first and second layers. The method includes inserting a blade of a cleaving tool between the first and second layers, and exerting a controlled force on the cleaving tool to move the cleaving tool so as to de-bond the first and second layers in a region. The force exerted is controlled to match a de-bonding force calculated for the region, and such that the movement of the cleaving tool stops when the calculated force is less than a force required to move the cleaving tool, and continues when the calculated force is higher than or equal to the force required to move the cleaving tool.
