Apparatus for retaining a workpiece, and methods of use and manufacture thereof
Some embodiments are directed to a fixing apparatus that includes a threaded adaptor, an arbor having a flange portion and a shaft portion, and a draw cylinder disposed such that rotation of the threaded adaptor moves the draw cylinder in axially upward and downward directions. A collet can be disposed around a periphery of the arbor so as to be coaxial with the draw cylinder, such that movement of the draw cylinder in the axially downward direction causes the draw cylinder to contact the collet and thereby cause the collet to also move in the axially downward direction. The collet can include axially extending channels that define fingers therebetween and interior coaxial surfaces that are configured to communicate with exterior coaxial surfaces of the arbor such that axially downward movement of the collet moves the fingers in a radially outward direction to thereby increase an exterior diameter of the collet.

Angular Positioning Fly Tying Vise
The subject invention provides a means to tie a fly pattern for a fishing method by means of the fly tying vise mechanism. In general, the invention employs technology that allows the individual to position the various parts of the vise in multiple ways to achieve virtually unlimited angular positioning of the jaws. The invention employs an offset cam that allows for an adjustable friction applied to the hook jaw mechanism that is attached to a long vertical post, mounted on a heavy pedestal, providing stability for the vise. The pedestal employs several applications for storing or attracting tools and hooks and magnetizing jaws. The offset cam can be adjusted up and down and rotate 360 degrees horizontally around the vertical post; can be rotated 360 degrees vertically to turn the cam from a horizontal to a vertical position; allows the jaws to be moved up and down, relative to the cam to accommodate different sizes hooks; and, allows the jaws to rotate 360 degrees. The invention also employs a swiveling, vertically adjustable back snatch, which is a flexible arm that is used to hold the bobbin thread holder or material pliers that hold feathers and other material during the tying process.

Key clamp rotation controller
A key clamping device includes a first key clamp, a second key clamp and a rotational device connected to the first and second key clamps. The rotational device may facilitate rotation of the first and second key clamps.
Flanged material and standing seam clamp
A clamping assembly for attaching loads to various kinds of flanged seams, the assembly comprising a generally U-shaped clamp body, at least one clamping hammer disposed interior of the clamp body, the clamping hammer is secured to the clamp body along the longitudinal axis of the clamp body, at least one adjustment screw extending through the clamp body and adapted to selectively impinge against the clamping hammer and cause it to pivot about its axis or otherwise move inwardly within the clamp body, the adjustment screw extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the clamping hammer, at least one locking screw adapted to selectively impinge against the clamping hammer to prevent pivoting of the same may be optionally provided whereby a standing seam received within the clamp body may be tightly grasped between the clamp body and the clamping hammer under action of the adjustment screw.
Workpiece fixing jig and workpiece fixing method using the same
A workpiece fixing jig 1 includes a base 2 to be fixed on a table, and a clamping mechanism 10 provided on the base 2 for clamping a workpiece. The clamping mechanism 10 includes a first clamping portion 20 and a second clamping portion 30 provided to face each other. At least one of the first and second clamping portions 20 and 30 is configured to move forward and backward with respect to the other along a moving direction and the moving direction is set to a direction intersecting a direction in which the base 2 is fixed on the table. In using this workpiece fixing jig 1, the base 2 is fixed on the table after the workpiece is clamped between the first clamping portion 20 and the second clamping portion 30.
