A transfer apparatus (104) for transferring a workpiece (116) has a support surface (124) for supporting a workpiece (116). The transfer apparatus (104) has a carriage (128) movable with respect to the support surface (124) between a loading location and an unloading location. The transfer apparatus (104) further has a drive mechanism (146, 150) operatively connected to the carriage (128) for moving the carriage (128). The carriage (128) has a lift member (230) moveable between a lowered position and a raised position relative to the support surface (124). The carriage (128) further has a push member (292) operatively connected with the lift member (230) to enable engagement of a workpiece (116) with the push member (292) and the lift member (230) to lift at least a portion of the workpiece (116) from the support surface (124) to decrease the factional engagement between the workpiece (116) and the support surface (124).

Lift pins and devices having lift pins are provided. According to an aspect, a lift pin may have a tapered distal portion. According to another aspect, a lift pin may have two portions threadedly engaged with each other. According to yet another aspect, a lift pin may be mounted to a lifting plate with slackness.

In a cell with linked horizontal machining centers, each with two swivel arms for manipulating and changing pallets, which can be conveyed to and from a support in a conveying direction, each horizontal machining center is assigned at least one multi-storey pallet rack which is offset in the conveying direction relative to the front side and in which a pallet through-path is provided, and at least one rack storage and retrieval device with a lifting function transverse to the conveying direction is moveable at least between the pallet racks.

A transfer apparatus (104) for transferring a workpiece (116) has a support surface (124) for supporting a workpiece (116). The transfer apparatus (104) has a carriage (128) movable with respect to the support surface (124) between a loading location and an unloading location. The transfer apparatus (104) further has a drive mechanism (146, 150) operatively connected to the carriage (128) for moving the carriage (128). The carriage (128) further has a push member (292) operatively connected with the lift member (230) to enable engagement of a workpiece (116) with the push member (292) and the lift member (230) to lift at least a portion of the workpiece (116) from the support surface (124) to decrease the factional engagement between the workpiece (116) and the support surface (124).

Apparatus for separating workpieces which preferably consist at least in sections of wood, wood-based materials, plastic or the like, having a workpiece magazine with a magazine area for holding a plurality of workpieces, in particular a stack of workpieces, a discharge device for discharging a workpiece out of the workpiece magazine, characterised in that the apparatus has a feed device which is set up to feed at least one workpiece held in the workpiece magazine to the discharge device.

A pallet carrying apparatus includes: a first pallet rail; a second pallet rail provided parallel to the first pallet rail; a first pallet feeding mechanism including a first endless belt on which convex portions and concave portions each extending in a belt width direction are formed; a second pallet feeding mechanism including a second endless belt on which convex portions and concave portions each extending in a belt width direction are formed; and a pallet moving mechanism configured to move a pallet. The first and second endless belt are provided in the vertical direction. Concavo-convex portions included in the pallet engage with the convex portions and the concave portions of the first and second endless belts.

The object of the present invention is a device for moving a load and for the control thereof, particularly for regulating the positioning and/or orientation of a first plane, for example that is integral with an automatic machine, with respect to a reference plane or direction, for example that of the force of gravity. A method of delivering a substrate includes moving a holder configured to hold the substrate in a substrate transfer device above a region where an elevating member configured to be capable of being raised/lowered is arranged; and delivering the substrate from the holder to the elevating member by simultaneously performing lowering of the holder and raising of the elevating member, or delivering the substrate from the elevating member to the holder by simultaneously performing lowering of the elevating member that supports the substrate and raising of the holder.
