A machine tool includes: a tool holder which includes a key groove; a spindle drive unit which includes a spindle key that can be fitted into the key groove of the tool holder and a spindle and which removably holds the tool holder; a tool exchanger which includes a grip key and a grip that holds the tool holder at a fixed position with respect to the spindle; and a numerical controller which controls the tool exchanger so as to fit and remove the tool holder with respect to the spindle, and the numerical controller controls the spindle drive unit such that when the tool holder is fitted to the spindle, in a state where the key groove of the tool holder is inserted in the spindle key, the spindle is rotated to press the spindle key to the key groove so as to determine the phase of the tool holder with respect to the spindle.
METHOD OF MONITORING A TOOL CLAMPING DEVICE
A method of monitoring a tool clamping device mounted on a machine spindle, the clamping force of which tool clamping device is generated by a spring assembly which exerts a force in the direction of the clamping position on an actuating element actuating the clamping or the release of a tool or tool holder. In the method, the spring force and the displacement of the actuating element are continuously measured during the release and/or clamping of a tool or tool holder and recorded as functions of the time. These recorded functions are used to identify at least one parameter characteristic for the status of the tool clamping device. Based on the spring force and the displacement over time, a spring characteristic curve is plotted in the form of the spring force as a function of displacement, the analysis of which spring characteristic curve provides information about a number of characteristic parameters.
Tool alignment device
A tool alignment device for mounting on a tool having a stop, especially on a drilling and/or countersinking tool having a single-piece tool shaft and a stop, for alignment of a drill hole and/or countersink to be introduced or for alignment of a finishing step in relation to a normal to the surface of a workpiece, comprising a main part and a through hole. Upon mechanical contact between the tool alignment device and the surface of the workpiece, a signaling device is actuated and emits alignment signal(s) during alignment in an alignment direction, and the stop of the tool can be accommodated in the main part, which comprises a guide device which establishes a connection between a stop sleeve of the stop and the tool alignment device such that the stop can be aligned in the alignment direction. A machine includes a main shaft on the tip of which a tool is mounted, a main shaft head for supporting the main shaft, a main shaft head support for supporting the main shaft head so as to be able to rotate around a first axis line that extends perpendicular to the rotational axis line of the main shaft, a first rotary feed shaft device provided on the main shaft head support for rotary feeding of the main shaft head around the first axis line, a saddle that supports the main shaft head support, a second rotary feed shaft device provided on the saddle for rotary feeding of the main shaft head support around the second rotational axis line, and a restricting means for restricting the range of rotary feeding of the first rotary feed shaft device.
TOOLING FIXTURES AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF SUPPORTING A WORKPIECE DURING MANUFACTURING
A tooling fixture includes a tilt platform including an indexing point, defining an intersection of orthogonal axes, and a frame assembly coupled to the tilt platform. The frame assembly is configured to support rotational movement of the tilt platform about two of the orthogonal axes. A location of the indexing point is fixed relative to a reference frame during rotational movement of the tilt platform. The frame assembly allows access to the tilt platform from a direction opposite the frame.
Automated apparatus for moving an end effector over a surface of an airfoil-shaped body
An automated apparatus comprising: a chassis configured to be mounted on an airfoil-shaped body without contacting its trailing edge; a carriage translatably coupled to the chassis; and an end effector pivotably coupled to the carriage. The chassis comprises: a frame; a motorized drive rolling element rotatably coupled to the frame; a rocker mechanism pivotably coupled to the frame; first and second ball and socket bearings mounted to opposing ends of the rocker arm; and a third ball and socket bearing mounted to the frame. During a maintenance procedure, the airfoil-shaped body is oriented at a non-zero angle of attack with the leading edge higher than the trailing edge and with the balls of the ball and socket bearings in contact with the airfoil-shaped body. A gravitational force exerted urges the chassis toward the trailing edge of the airfoil-shaped body for all chordwise positions of the carriage.
GRINDING MACHINE
A grinding machine for grinding tools comprises a support unit configured to support a tool to be ground and provided with members suitable to incline it by certain angle with respect to a horizontal reference plane; and an operating unit that is mobile along a main axis of development of the grinding machine in order to move with respect to the support unit and comprises an abrasive element intended to abrade at least a portion to be ground of the tool. The grinding machine comprises an adjustment system to adjust the inclination of the support unit with respect to the reference plane. The adjustment means system is mobile parallel to the main axis of development to move to a predetermined distance from the reference plane.
Lock device for power tool adjustment
A base assembly for a power tool, such as a router, includes a base member, an adjustment mechanism, and a lock member. The base member is configured to accept a motor housing of the power tool. The adjustment mechanism is configured to adjust a position of the motor housing relative to the base member via rotation of a first contact portion of the adjustment mechanism. The lock member is moveable relative to the adjustment mechanism between a first position that prevents rotation of the adjustment mechanism and a second position that permits rotation of the adjustment mechanism. The lock member includes a second contact portion positioned proximate to the first contact portion and configured to be actuated to position the lock member in the second position. The position of the motor housing is adjusted by simultaneously actuating the first contact portion and the second contact portion.
