ESTIMATION OF ORIENTATION OF A CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool, a turning machine including the cutting tool, and an associated method are provided. The cutting tool includes a tool bar extending along an axis, a cutting head located at the tool bar, and at least one sensor integrated with the tool bar or the cutting head. A rotational orientation of the cutting tool with respect to the axis is estimated based on output provided by the at least one sensor. In at least some embodiments, the at least one sensor includes accelerometers configured to measure acceleration in at least two directions.
MACHINE TOOL
The machine tool includes a tool post linearly movable along a direction parallel to an X axis and a direction parallel to a Z axis, a workpiece spindle which retains a workpiece in a condition rotatable about an axis parallel to the Z axis, and an in-machine robot which is installed in a machining chamber and has joints. The joints of the in-machine robot include a base joint rotatable about an axis parallel to the Z axis, and three parallel joints rotatable about an axis orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the base joint, the parallel joints being located on a distal end side of the base joint and successively arranged from the base joint. The axis of rotation of the base joint is displaced from that of the workpiece spindle.
Automatic tool setting system and method based on spectral confocal displacement sensor
The invention discloses an automatic tool aligning system based on a spectral confocal displacement sensor. The system comprises three-dimensional mobile platform, tool aligning component based on the spectral confocal displacement sensor, clamping device, machine tool and the control module. The three-dimensional mobile platform is fixed on the outer side of the machine tool, the tool aligning component is connected with the three-dimensional mobile platform, the clamping device used to clamp the workpiece is fixed on the center of the machine tool through mechanical connection, and the spectral confocal displacement sensor is connected with the control module. After judging the collected working condition data, the control module outputs a control instruction to the three-dimensional mobile platform.
Cutting tool holder with a control module
A cutting tool holder (1) for holding and driving a cutting tool (2) includes at least one actuator (3) for adjusting at least one operating state of the cutting tool holder (1). A control module (4) is disposed on the cutting tool holder (1) and is connected with the actuator (3). The control module (4) directly and independently actuates the actuator (3); information about the operating state is storable on the control module (4). A TCP- and/or UDP-based server is disposed on the control module (4) so that information transmitted from a web-browser compatible end device (5, 6) about an operating state to be assumed can be received and information about the actual operating state can be transmitted to the web-browser compatible end device (5, 6).
MACHINE TOOL AND CUTTING METHOD
A machine tool for cutting a workpiece having an inclined surface includes a main spindle that rotates while holding the workpiece, a tool post that holds a cutting tool to cut the inclined surface of the workpiece, a mover that relatively moves the workpiece and the cutting tool in a direction including at least a Y-direction perpendicular to both a Z-direction parallel to an axis of the main spindle and an X-direction that is perpendicular to the Z-direction and determines the amount of cutting of the workpiece. The mover includes a Y-direction guide disposed on the tool post, the Y-direction guide guiding movement of the cutting tool in the Y-direction, and the Y-direction guide has a guide surface along a surface perpendicular to a direction of a thrust force that occurs when cutting the inclined surface using the cutting tool.

A control device includes a control part which generates a torque command based on a resultant command, which is obtained by adding a position deviation, which is the difference between a position command and the actual position of a feed shaft, to an oscillation command to control the feed shaft, and an elastic deformation amount calculation part which calculates the elastic deformation amount of a structure composed of a tool or workpiece and the feeding mechanism therefor based on the torque command. An oscillation command generation part generates the above oscillation command based on the rotation speed of the workpiece, the position command of the feed shaft, and the above elastic deformation amount.

A tool received in a tool holding fixture of a tool holder includes a tool shank defining a recess and a force sensor arranged in the recess. During operation of the tool, the force sensor measures a tool force exerted by the tool shank onto the tool holder. A method for measuring a tool force by using the tool includes the steps of: arranging the force sensor between the tool shank and the tool holding fixture; clamping the force sensor by means of a clamping device of the tool holding fixture; operating the tool; and using the force sensor to measure the tool force exerted by the tool shank onto the tool holder.
