METHOD FOR GRINDING TOOTH FLANK OF GEAR WORKPIECE, AND GEAR GRINDING MACHINE
A gear grinding machine uses a grindstone tool, having an outer circumference that includes a thread, to grind a tooth surface of a gear workpiece. In this case, coolant is supplied toward the tooth surface from a trailing side in a rotation direction of the gear workpiece through a space between the grindstone tool and the gear workpiece. The coolant is drawn into the meshing portion between the grindstone tool and the gear workpiece by the rotation of the gear workpiece and the movement of the thread of the grinding tool.
Device for producing a curved surface
A device for producing a curved surface (2) of a work piece (1) includes a tool (3) and a tool holder for receiving the tool (3), the tool holder being drivable for rotation about a tool axis (4). At least one work piece holder accommodates a work piece (1). The work piece holder is drivable for rotation about a work piece axis (5). The tool axis (4) and the work piece axis (5) are positionable at an angle relative to one another. The tool axis (4) and the work piece axis (5) are positionable at an angle relative to one another. A work piece holder support (6) receives a plurality of work piece holders, the work piece holders being rotatably drivable relative to the work piece holder support (6). The work piece holder support (6) is rotatably drivable about a work piece holder support axis (7), so that based on superposed rotations of work piece holders and work piece holder support (6) and the rotating tool, the surface (2) of each work piece (1) is curved after end machining, depending on an inclination angle.
Polishing apparatus
A polishing apparatus includes a jig unit including a substrate supporting part having a placing surface on which a substrate having a first curvature is placed. The placing surface has a second curvature corresponding to the first curvature and a polishing unit includes at least one polishing part to be rotated to polish a process surface of the substrate. The process surface of the curved substrate may be uniformly polished and foreign substances generated during the polishing process are prevented from entering into the substrate.
Machining methods of forming laminated glass structures
A method of shaping a laminated glass structure includes providing the laminated glass structure comprising a flexible glass sheet having a thickness of no greater than about 0.3 mm laminated to a non-glass substrate by an adhesive layer. The flexible glass structure and adhesive layer are ground using a first tool to remove glass material. The non-glass substrate is cut with a second tool different from the first tool through a kerf formed through the flexible glass structure thereby forming a shaped laminated glass structure. A glass edge strength of a cut edge of the shaped laminated glass structure is at least about 20 MPa.

Coolant delivery system for grinding applications
A system for removing material from a workpiece comprising: a mounted-point grinding tool configured to move from a first position to a second position traversing at least a portion of a slot in a workpiece and removing material from a surface of the workpiece; and a first nozzle configured to deliver coolant to the mounted-point grinding tool, wherein the first nozzle is configured to move with the mounted point grinding tool from the first position to the second position so that the distance between the first nozzle and the mounted-point grinding tool remains substantially unchanged. A second nozzle can be mounted on the opposite side of tool from first nozzle, with the second nozzle also configured to move with the grinding tool so that the distance between the first nozzle and the mounted-point grinding tool remains substantially unchanged during grinding.
DEVICE FOR PRODUCING A CURVED SURFACE
A device for producing a curved surface (2) of a work piece (1) includes a tool (3) and a tool holder for receiving the tool (3), the tool holder being drivable for rotation about a tool axis (4). At least one work piece holder accommodates a work piece (1). The work piece holder is drivable for rotation about a work piece axis (5). The tool axis (4) and the work piece axis (5) are positionable at an angle relative to one another. The tool axis (4) and the work piece axis (5) are positionable at an angle relative to one another. A work piece holder support (6) receives a plurality of work piece holders, the work piece holders being rotatably drivable relative to the work piece holder support (6). The work piece holder support (6) is rotatably drivable about a work piece holder support axis (7), so that based on superposed rotations of work piece holders and work piece holder support (6) and the rotating tool, the surface (2) of each work piece (1) is curved after end machining, depending on an inclination angle.
Apparatus and method for reshaping bandsaw wheel
A reshaping apparatus for restoring the shape of the outer edge of a bandsaw wheel of a bandsaw is described. The reshaping apparatus is attached to frame member of the bandsaw and then adjust so that a die grinder with a grind rock is aligned for the reshaping process. The reshaping of the outer edge of the bandsaw wheel occurs without removing the bandsaw wheel from the bandsaw.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING IMPROVED CUTTING EDGES
A method is provided for forming cutting edges. The method includes a step of providing a grinding stage comprising a pair of abrading wheels that extend from a strip receiving end to a strip exiting end. The method further includes a step of directing a strip of metal at the strip receiving end of the grinding stage along a path P. The method also includes a step of removing material, from the strip of the metal, with an abrasive surface along the pair of abrading wheels which varies from a fine abrasion to a coarse abrasion in a direction from the strip receiving end to the strip exiting end.
APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING IMPROVED CUTTING EDGES
An apparatus is provided for forming cutting edges including a grinding stage. The grinding stage includes abrading wheels with a strip receiving end configured to receive a strip with a first profile along a path P and a strip exiting end. Axes of the abrading wheels are oriented at a tilt angle relative to the path P. Lands are provided on each abrading wheel with an abrasive surface that varies from fine to coarse in a direction from the strip receiving end to the strip exiting end. The lands are arranged in a spiral helix such that the helix is a right-handed thread on one wheel and a left-handed thread on the other wheel. An improvement is also provided for a system for removing material from a strip of metal incident on the system along a path P.
