Method and tool for producing a surface of predetermined roughness
For producing a cylindrical surface that has a surface structure of predetermined geometry suitable for application of material by thermal spraying, a geometrically predetermined groove structure of minimal depth and width is introduced into the surface by a tool embodied as a follow-on tool in that a groove cross-section is processed successively to a final size. In order for the surface to be producible in mass production with constant quality, the groove structure is worked in such that first a base groove is introduced with a groove bottom width that is smaller than the groove bottom width of the finished groove. Subsequently, at least one flank of the base groove is processed for producing an undercut groove profile by a non-cutting action or cutting action wherein the introduced groove structure is deformed in such a way that the groove openings are constricted by upsetting deformations of material.

HONING MACHINE WITH MULTIPLE WORKSTATIONS
A honing machine (100) for carrying out honing operations on boreholes, oriented orthogonally with respect to one another, in a workpiece (102), in particular for honing processing of cylinder boreholes and a bearing gate borehole in a cylinder crank casing, comprises a machine base (110) and a round table (130) which is arranged on the machine base and which can rotate about a vertical round table axis (134) and has a plurality of workpiece receptacles which are arranged offset with respect to one another in a circumferential direction at a radial distance from the round table axis, in such a way that a workpiece which is held in a workpiece receptacle can be transported successively to different workstations (140, 150, 160, 170) of the honing machine by rotating the round table. At least one of the workstations is a vertical honing station (150, 170) which has at least one vertical honing unit (180) which has a honing spindle which can move back and forth in the direction of a spindle axis which is oriented parallel to the round table axis, rotatably about said spindle axis. Furthermore, at least one of the workstations is a horizontal honing station (160) which has at least one horizontal honing unit (300) which has a honing spindle which can move back and forth in the direction of a horizontal spindle axis (304), rotatable about said spindle axis. The horizontal honing unit (300) is or can be positioned with respect to the round table (130) in such a way that the horizontal honing unit assumes a processing position in which the horizontal spindle axis (304) is oriented radially with respect to the round table axis (134).
HONING MACHINE WITH MULTIPLE WORKSTATIONS
A honing machine (100) for carrying out honing operations on boreholes, oriented orthogonally with respect to one another, in a workpiece (102), in particular for honing processing of cylinder boreholes and a bearing gate borehole in a cylinder crank casing, comprises a machine base (110) and a round table (130) which is arranged on the machine base and which can rotate about a vertical round table axis (134) and has a plurality of workpiece receptacles which are arranged offset with respect to one another in a circumferential direction at a radial distance from the round table axis, in such a way that a workpiece which is held in a workpiece receptacle can be transported successively to different workstations (140, 150, 160, 170) of the honing machine by rotating the round table. At least one of the workstations is a vertical honing station (150, 170) which has at least one vertical honing unit (180) which has a honing spindle which can move back and forth in the direction of a spindle axis which is oriented parallel to the round table axis, rotatably about said spindle axis. Furthermore, at least one of the workstations is a horizontal honing station (160) which has at least one horizontal honing unit (300) which has a honing spindle which can move back and forth in the direction of a horizontal spindle axis (304), rotatable about said spindle axis. The horizontal honing unit (300) is or can be positioned with respect to the round table (130) in such a way that the horizontal honing unit assumes a processing position in which the horizontal spindle axis (304) is oriented radially with respect to the round table axis (134).
SURFACE TREATING APPARATUS
A surface treating apparatus for treating an inner surface of a bore containing a shaft may include a body connectable to a drive apparatus and configured to movably receive a shaft extending through a bore, and at least one surface treating member connected to and movable with the body relative to the shaft, the at least one surface treating member sized to be inserted within an annular gap formed between the shaft and an inner surface of the bore and to bear against the inner surface of the bore when the shaft is received by the body.
Tool for honing an external surface of a right cylindrical tube and method of use
A honing tool (1) for honing a cylindrical external surface (2) of a rod (3). The tool comprises a plurality of honing inserts (4), adapted to hone a metal, and a support (5) for the honing inserts. The inserts (4) are carried by the support (5) and define a passage (6) around which the inserts (4) are to be found and in which the cylindrical external surface (2) of the rod (3) is insertable. The tool (1) includes a plurality of sliding skids (7) carried by the support (5), the sliding skids (7) and the honing inserts (4) being arranged to be capable of coming simultaneously into contact against the cylindrical external surface (2) of the rod (3) when the rod is placed inside the passage (6) and so as to be able to center the cylindrical external surface (2) inside the passage (6).
Tool for honing an external surface of a right cylindrical tube and method of use
A honing tool (1) for honing a cylindrical external surface (2) of a rod (3). The tool comprises a plurality of honing inserts (4), adapted to hone a metal, and a support (5) for the honing inserts. The inserts (4) are carried by the support (5) and define a passage (6) around which the inserts (4) are to be found and in which the cylindrical external surface (2) of the rod (3) is insertable. The tool (1) includes a plurality of sliding skids (7) carried by the support (5), the sliding skids (7) and the honing inserts (4) being arranged to be capable of coming simultaneously into contact against the cylindrical external surface (2) of the rod (3) when the rod is placed inside the passage (6) and so as to be able to center the cylindrical external surface (2) inside the passage (6).
Method and device for fine machining cylindrical workpiece surfaces
The invention relates to a method for fine machining a cylindrical workpiece surface of a workpiece blank by means of a fine machining tool. Said method comprising the following steps: generating a relative rotational movement between a tool and a workpiece blank about a machining axis which is concentric to a cylindrical workpiece surface of the workpiece blank; generating a relative feed rate between the tool and the workpiece blank along the machining axis; detecting an actual value of a process variable, which is a function of a relative force between the tool and the workpiece blank and which can assume a plurality of process variable values; and continuously controlling the process variable by changing the relative feed rate in such a way that the more the relative feed rate changes, the more the actual value of the process variable deviates from a desired value of the process variable.
Method and device for fine machining cylindrical workpiece surfaces
The invention relates to a method for fine machining a cylindrical workpiece surface of a workpiece blank by means of a fine machining tool. Said method comprising the following steps: generating a relative rotational movement between a tool and a workpiece blank about a machining axis which is concentric to a cylindrical workpiece surface of the workpiece blank; generating a relative feed rate between the tool and the workpiece blank along the machining axis; detecting an actual value of a process variable, which is a function of a relative force between the tool and the workpiece blank and which can assume a plurality of process variable values; and continuously controlling the process variable by changing the relative feed rate in such a way that the more the relative feed rate changes, the more the actual value of the process variable deviates from a desired value of the process variable.

A method for honing a rotationally symmetric, non-cylindrical bore includes the steps of limiting the stroke of a honing tool between upper and lower reversal points, continoulsy detecting the actual diameter of the bore at all points along its length between the upper and lower reversal points, continuously comparing the actual diameter of the bore to a specified target diameters for at least one of the upper or lower reversal points, continuously limiting the stroke to regions of the bore in which the actual diameter is smaller than the target diameter, continuously limiting the stroke to regions of the bore in which the actual diameter is smaller than the target diameter, and reducing the stroke of the honing tool step-by-step based on the detected actual values of the diameter of the bore, so that it only the regions of the bore that are machined in which the actual diameter of the bore is smaller than the target diameter corresponding to the detected actual values of the diameter.
