Planar grinder

A sample grinder includes a base having a bowl and a rotatable drive plate to operably support a grinding wheel. A head is configured to support a specimen holder and has a first drive for rotational drive of the specimen holder and a second drive for moving the head and specimen holder toward and away from the drive plate. The head has a sleeve that is larger than the specimen holder. A cover is disposed over the bowl and has an opening larger than the sleeve so that the sleeve fits through the opening when the specimen holder is moved toward the rotatable drive plate. The grinding wheel is mountable to the plate in a single radial orientation only. A dressing system is operably connected to a controller to monitor the current of the drive plate motor and/or the head first drive actuates the dressing system based upon the current drawn by the drive plate motor and/or the head first drive motor falling below a predetermined value.

Apparatus and a process for grinding an edge and a glazing having a ground edge

An apparatus for edge grinding a glazing comprising a grinding wheel, rotatable about an axis, a groove in a circumference of the wheel and first and second orifices arranged on first and second sides of the plane of the groove, which form first and second jets of coolant directed substantially into the groove on first and second trajectories not in the plane of the groove. A corresponding process for edge grinding causes fewer sharp portions and fewer small fractures in the glazing edge than the prior art. A glazing manufactured by the apparatus or the process has higher edge strength than the prior art.

Brushing device for the working of workpieces

The brushing device contains a bundle of fiber rods (1), which are arranged parallel to one another, and a protective sleeve (2), which encloses the fiber rods. Once fiber rods (1) have become worn, the protective sleeve (2) is able to be axially adjusted, so that the free ends of the fiber rods (1) protrude beyond the protective sleeve (2) by a desired amount. A first component (4) connected to the fiber rods (1) and a further, second component (8) connected to the protective sleeve (2) are detachably connected to one another, in a non-positively locking manner, by a clamping mechanism (3, 5, 11).

Fully rotatable grinder guard assembly and method for making same

A fully rotatable guard assembly (200) for use with a tool having a rotating disc includes at least one rotatable bearing (215, 223) for positioning on a shaft behind a rotating disc (207). A shield (203) works with the rotatable bearing (215, 223) for preventing sparks or other debris from being projected toward a user. A brake lever (241) is attached to the shield (203) for allowing the user to position the shield (203) at a predetermined position in relation to the rotating disc. The shield (203) is configured to cover approximately one-half () of the rotating disc (207) such that the position of the shield (203) can be easily rotated through use of the brake lever (241) for enabling the user to move the shield (203) such that the rotating disc (207) can access a workpiece.

HOOD FOR DRUM SANDER
20180369986 · 2018-12-27 · ·

A drum sander having a fin for deflecting airflow around the drum and directing dust and debris to a dust collecting outlet. The fin includes a first section at a first angle and a second section at a second angle that directs air movement generated by the operating drum toward the dust collecting outlet. The free edge of the fin is shaped to wrap partially around the drum in two helical inclined planes. A tool free adjustment of parallelism may be provided. The workpieces are pulled through the sander rather than being pushed through. Lightweight materials reduce stress on the assembly. Heat is dissipated by the configuration and material of the drum.
