Drill bit apparatus to control torque on bit
In accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, a drill bit for drilling a wellbore in a subterranean formation comprises a plurality of cutters disposed at a contact face of the drill bit. Each of the cutters has a cutting face arranged to cut into the formation when the drill bit is rotated about an axis of rotation passing through the contact face during drilling of the wellbore. At least one of the cutters located inside a gauge portion of the drill bit is machine to form a substantially flat surface that intersects with the cutting face of the cutting and defines a cutting edge of the cutting face of the cutter.
ABRASIVE ARTICLES AND METHODS OF FORMING SAME
A coated abrasive article comprising a backing and abrasive particles overlying the backing, the abrasive particles having a random rotational orientation and at least 87% of the abrasive particles are oriented at a tilt angle within a range of greater than 44 degrees to 90 degrees, and not greater than 13% of the abrasive particles are oriented at a tilt angle of not greater than 44 degrees.
Shaped abrasive particle transfer assembly
Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a shaped abrasive particle transfer assembly. The shaped abrasive particle transfer assembly includes a substrate including an adhesive and a plurality of shaped abrasive particles adhered to the substrate and forming a predetermined pattern thereon.
Methods of making abrasive articles and bonded abrasive wheel preparable thereby
Methods of making abrasive articles involve adhering shaped abrasive particles to a reinforcing member according to a predetermined pattern and optionally orientation, and depositing a space-filling binder precursor on the reinforcing member and shaped abrasive particles to provide a filled abrasive preform, disposing another reinforcing member onto the filled abrasive preform, and curing the abrasive article precursor to form the abrasive articles. In some aspects, multiple abrasive preforms are stacked on each other. Bonded abrasive wheels preparable according to the methods are also disclosed.
Abrasive preforms, method of making an abrasive article, and bonded abrasive article
Abrasive preforms include a frame having first and second opposed parallel major surfaces. The first major surface has a plurality of first cavities formed therein. The second major surface optionally has a plurality of second cavities formed therein. The frame comprises a binder precursor material. Abrasive particles are disposed in at least a portion of the plurality of first cavities and optional plurality of second cavities. Methods of making abrasive articles using the abrasive preforms and bonded abrasive articles preparable thereby are also disclosed.
ABRASIVE TOOLS AND METHODS FOR FORMING SAME
An abrasive tool can include a bonded abrasive including a body and a barrier layer bonded to a major surface of the body. The body can include abrasive particles contained within a bond material. The barrier material can include a metal-containing film. In an embodiment, the barrier layer may further include a polymer-containing film. In another embodiment, the barrier layer may include a biaxially oriented material. The abrasive tool may be formed such that the barrier layer is formed in-situ with the formation of the bonded abrasive.
DAMPED ABRASIVE ARTICLE
A damped abrasive article comprises a damping body and an abrasive surface provided on at least a portion of the damping body. The damping body comprises a synthetic polymer having a Storage Modulus from 1000 MPa to 2500 MPa and a Loss factor from 0.025 to 0.10 at 25 C. and 10 Hz.

Grinding tool
A grinding tool includes a substrate having a surface provided with a plurality of openings, and a plurality of grinding studs. Each of the grinding studs includes a stud portion and an abrasive particle attached to each other, the stud portions being respectively attached into the openings, and the abrasive particles protruding outward from the surface, each of the abrasive particles having a pattern cut across a tip thereof to define multiple apexes adjacent to one another.
MEASURING INSTRUMENT AND PROCESSING APPARATUS
A measuring instrument disposed on a pipe through which a liquid flows includes two ultrasonic vibrators disposed on an upstream side and a downstream side of the pipe, and an ultrasonic conductor disposed between the ultrasonic vibrators and held in contact with the liquid. The measuring instrument derives the temperature of the liquid in contact with the ultrasonic conductor by generating ultrasonic waves from one of the ultrasonic vibrators and observing the ultrasonic waves propagated through the ultrasonic conductor with the other of the ultrasonic vibrators.
