A method for producing abrasive particles having a unique surface morphology including providing a plurality of abrasive particles; providing a plurality of metal particles; mixing the abrasive particles and the metal particles to form a mixture; compressing the mixture to form a compressed mixture; heating the compressed mixture; and recovering modified abrasive particles.

Shaped abrasive particle and method of forming same

A method of forming a mixture including a ceramic material into a sheet, sectioning at least a portion of the sheet using a mechanical object and forming at least one shaped abrasive particle from the sheet, such that the at least one shaped abrasive particle can have a two-dimensional shape as viewed in a plane defined by a length and a width of the shaped abrasive particle selected from the group consisting of polygons, ellipsoids, numerals, Greek alphabet characters, Latin alphabet characters, Russian alphabet characters, complex shapes having a combination of polygonal shapes, and a combination thereof.

Grinding Tool

A grinding tool includes a substrate having a surface provided with a plurality of openings, and a plurality of grinding studs. Each of the grinding studs includes a stud portion and an abrasive particle attached to each other, the stud portions being respectively attached into the openings, and the abrasive particles protruding outward from the surface, each of the abrasive particles having a pattern cut across a tip thereof to define multiple apexes adjacent to one another.

Polycrystalline diamond and manufacturing method thereof, scribe tool, scribing wheel, dresser, rotating tool, orifice for water jet, wiredrawing die, cutting tool, and electron emission source

Nano polycrystalline diamond is composed of carbon, an element of different type which is an element other than carbon and is added to be dispersed in carbon at an atomic level, and an inevitable impurity. The polycrystalline diamond has a crystal grain size not greater than 500 nm. The polycrystalline diamond can be fabricated by subjecting graphite in which the element of different type which is an element other than carbon has been added to be dispersed in carbon at an atomic level to heat treatment within high-pressure press equipment.

TiO2 based scrubbing granules, and methods of making and using such TiO2 based scrubbing granules

TiO.sub.2 based scrubbing granules, and methods of making and using such TiO.sub.2 based scrubbing granules are described. TiO2-based scrubbing granules include granulated TiO.sub.2 and about 0.5% to about 20% dry weight inorganic salt binder. Other TiO.sub.2 based scrubbing granules include unsintered granulated TiO2 and about 0.5% to about 20% dry weight inorganic salt binder. Inorganic salt binder include sodium aluminate. Methods of making TiO.sub.2 based scrubbing granules include i) combining TiO.sub.2 particles with inorganic salt binder to form TiO.sub.2-binder mixture comprising from about 0.5% to about 20% dry weight binder; ii) granulating the TiO2-binder mixture; and drying the granulated TiO.sub.2-binder mixture to form TiO2-based scrubbing granules. Methods of using such TiO.sub.2-based scrubbing granules include introducing TiO.sub.2-based scrubbing granules to remove adherent deposits on an inner surface of a reactor or heat exchanger during processes of forming TiO.sub.2 particles and finishing the formed TiO.sub.2 particles into finished pigment products.

Composite shaped abrasive particles and method of forming same

An abrasive particle including a shaped abrasive particle having a body and a plurality of abrasive particles bonded to at least one surface of the body of the shaped abrasive particle.

A substance includes diamond particles having a maximum linear dimension of less than about 1 m and an organic compound attached to surfaces of the diamond particles. The organic compound may include a surfactant or a polymer. A method of forming a substance includes exposing diamond particles to an organic compound, and exposing the diamond particles in the presence of the organic compound to ultrasonic energy. The diamond particles may have a maximum linear dimension of less than about 1 m. A composition includes a liquid, a plurality of diamond nanoparticles dispersed within the liquid, and an organic compound attached to surfaces of the diamond nanoparticles. A method includes mixing a plurality of diamond particles with a solution comprising a liquid solvent and an organic compound, and exposing the mixture including the plurality of diamond nanoparticles and the solution to ultrasonic energy.
