The present invention relates generally to fixed abrasive articles comprising: abrasive particles; a binder composition; and an abrasive performance enhancing composition, wherein the abrasive particles are disposed on or in the binder composition, and wherein the abrasive performance enhancing composition is disposed overlying the abrasive particles or binder composition or both. The abrasive performance enhancing composition comprises a mixture comprising a lubricant and an anti-wear agent. In particular embodiments the abrasive performance enhancing composition further comprises a fixative material.

A method of machining a turbine shroud segment including inserting an annular flange of a grinding wheel through a first gap defined between the shroud retention elements and into a second gap defined between the shroud platform and an axially extending, radially inwardly facing arcuate inner surface of one of the retention elements. The wheel flange is inserted with its supporting leg and the wheel body remaining out of contact with the shroud segment and with the wheel flange remaining out of contact with the platform. The inner surface is ground through contact with an annular outer grinding surface of the wheel flange. The wheel leg and body remain out of contact with the shroud segment and the wheel flange remains out of contact with the platform during grinding.

Also provided is a method of repairing a discs containing copper facing each other for sapphire polishing, comprising: first step, horizontally and transversely moving an upper disc and a lower disc turning tool, or a lower disc and an upper disc turning tool, and aligning the turning tool with the original position of the grinding groove on the corresponding disc; second step, controlling the upper disc and the lower disc to rotate in opposite directions at the same rotation speed and with the turning tools fixed, controlling the upper disc or the lower disc to be fed transversely, and turning a corresponding grinding groove via the turning tools; third step, removing the turning tools and washing the surface of the corresponding discs.
