COMPOSITE ABRASIVE ATTACHMENT ARTICLE FOR CONCRETE POWER TROWEL MACHINE
20190211517 · 2019-07-11 ·

The invention provides a float trowel blade attachment for cement floor finishers comprising a rectangular section of sheet metal having a top surface and a bottom surface and having its edges optionally bent upwardly, means for providing to the top surface a three-sided rearwardly open pocket on the back of the section adjacent the leading edge thereof adapted to partially receive a finish trowel blade of the finisher, a spring clip secured to the top surface or the pocket-forming means and extending rearwardly therefrom so as to be engageable with the finish trowel blade to retain the section thereon, and wherein said rectangular sheet metal has attached to its bottom surface using an adhesive or mechanical attachment material interlayer, a composite rigid abrasive element bonded to a resilient backing.

CHEMICAL-MECHANICAL PLANARIZATION (CMP) PAD CONDITIONER BRUSH-AND-ABRASIVE HYBRID FOR MULTI-STEP, PREPARATION- AND RESTORATION-CONDITIONING PROCESS OF CMP PAD
20190193245 · 2019-06-27 · ·

A multi-step conditioning process includes an initial step of preparation (i.e., pre-conditioning) and a subsequent step of restoration (i.e., conditioning and polishing intermittently, in situ conditioning, or combinations thereof). An example of such an enhancement is achieved using a CMP pad conditioner brush-and-abrasive hybrid that has a combination of brush bristles and abrasive elements. The abrasive elements are readily deployed for pre-conditioning as the brush bristles are pressed (flexed) so that they are not in use. And the brush bristles are readily deployed for conditioning during pad restoration as less downforce is applied to the conditioner. Thus, a universal hybrid conditioner is capable of alteration of its aggressiveness without physically changing a conditioner on a polisher tool.

METHOD OF USING POLISHING OR GRINDING PAD ASSEMBLY

A floor polishing or grinding pad assembly is provided. In one aspect, a polishing or grinding pad assembly employs a fibrous pad, a reinforcement layer or ring, and multiple floor-contacting disks. In another aspect, the reinforcement layer includes a central hole through which the fibrous pad is accessible and the fibrous pad at the hole has a linear dimension greater than a linear dimension of one side of the adjacent reinforcement layer. In yet another aspect, at least one of the floor-contacting disks has an angle offset from that of a base surface of the disk, the fibrous pad and/or the reinforcement layer. A further aspect employs a smaller set of disks alternating between and/or offset from a larger set of the disks. In another aspect, the reinforcement layer includes a wavy or undulating internal edge shape.

Structured abrasive articles and methods of using the same

Structured abrasive articles include a backing and shaped abrasive composites secured to the backing. The shaped abrasive composites include abrasive grits dispersed in a binder matrix. The shaped abrasive composites include a bottom surface and a top surface opposite and not contacting the bottom surface, and at least three sidewalls abutting both the bottom and top surfaces and two other sidewalls. In one embodiment, at least two cusps are formed by the top surface and individual sidewalls. In another embodiment, the top surface includes at least two triangular facets that contact at least two respective sidewalls and at least two cusps. The top surface includes at least one interior recessed portion nearer the cusps than the bottom surface. Methods of abrading a workpiece using the structured abrasive article are also disclosed.
