CONFORMABLE ABRASIVE ARTICLE

The present disclosure provides abrasive articles that include an abrasive layer having a contact surface, a first layer coupled to the abrasive layer, and a second layer coupled to the first layer. The first layer is configured to provide contact pressure to the abrasive layer, such as through a higher hardness than the second layer. The second layer is configured to provide conformability to the abrasive layer, such as through a higher compressibility than the first layer. The resulting abrasive articles may exert a consistent contact pressure against a substrate with increased conformability around the substrate, reduced hysteresis, improved removal rate consistency, and/or improved lifetime over abrasive articles that do not use the multiple layer construction described above.

Arrangement and method for grinding spherical products
09649738 · 2017-05-16 · ·

The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for grinding spherical products (12), such as e.g. bowling balls, in particular. Such an arrangement comprises at least one grinding machine (1) having a spherically oscillating grinding movement. A fastening plate (6) fitted on the grinding machine has a spherically shaped bearing surface (7) and a grinding product (9) fitted on this, which through its slits (13) adopts a position with accuracy of shape on the spherically shaped surface. The grinding product (9) will form a contact surface (17) in the interface, in which the grinding product cooperates with the spherical product. This contact surface then adopts a radius of curvature arranged to substantially correspond to the radius (r) of the spherical product (12). The grinding is performed with a spherically oscillating grinding movement, which is adapted to the radius of the spherical product and simultaneously coincides with the radius of curvature of the contact surface.

The present invention relates to a method for producing a resin sheet containing at least the following step P, Step P: a step of applying pressure (p) to a sheet-shaped resin modeled article formed by a 3D printer while heating, and deforming the sheet-shaped resin modeled article to obtain a compressed sheet; and relates to a polishing pad containing a polishing layer obtained by using the method for producing.

Mesh abrasive and method of making the same

A method of making a mesh abrasive product comprises sequentially: 1) providing a production tool having a mold surface defining a plurality of shaped cavities and filling at least some of the shaped cavities with an abrasive composite precursor slurry, wherein the abrasive composite precursor slurry comprises abrasive particles dispersed within a curable binder precursor; 2) contacting the mold surface with an open mesh backing comprising interwoven threads defining openings, and having first and second opposed major sides; 3) ultrasonically vibrating the abrasive composite precursor slurry; 4) curing the curable binder precursor by exposing it to sufficient actinic electromagnetic radiation to provide isolated shaped abrasive composites contacting and secured to the first major side of the open mesh backing; and 5) separating the mesh abrasive product from the production tool. An open mesh abrasive product preparable by the method is also disclosed.

Packaged abrasive articles

A packaged abrasive article comprises an abrasive article hermetically sealed within a bag. The abrasive article comprises abrasive particles at least partially retained in a phenolic binder. The bag comprises a multilayer barrier film that comprises: a first substrate layer; a first polymerized acrylic layer disposed on the first substrate layer; an aluminosilicate layer disposed on the first polymerized acrylic layer; and a second polymerized acrylic layer disposed on the aluminosilicate layer.
