Ratcheting tool

A powered ratchet tool including a housing and a drive mechanism for driving an output member. The drive mechanism includes a yoke through which the output member extends. The ratchet tool further comprises a first selective pawl, a second selective pawl, and a non-selective pawl in the yoke that are biased toward an outer toothed surface of the output member and blocking member. The outer toothed surface includes first and second selectively-toothed sections. When the first selectively-toothed section and second selectively-toothed sections are rotationally aligned with the with the first selective pawl and the second selective pawl, the first and second selective pawls are incapable of transferring torque to the output member. The blocking member moves between an operating position, wherein the non-selective pawl is engaged with the outer toothed surface, and a home position, wherein the blocking member inhibits the non-selective pawl from engaging with the outer toothed surface.

Tool housing and motor exhaust management

A motorized hand tool such as a cordless ratchet wrench that has a motor, and a housing that encloses or houses the motor. The motor includes one or more exhaust ports that expel exhaust air out of the motor. The housing includes one or more exhaust ports and inwardly projecting protrusions or deflectors that extend around the exhaust ports. The inwardly projecting protrusions/deflectors extend in a direction towards the motor exhaust ports, and/or are at least partially disposed in the motor exhaust ports to direct exhaust air out of the housing and prevent exhaust air from recirculating near the motor and electronic components of the tool.

Tool housing and method for making the same

A tool housing and method for making the same are disclosed. The tool housing can include upper and middle portions that are fully machined and coupled to one another. The tool housing can also include a lower housing that is partially machined, coupled to the remaining housing portions, and then fully machined. In doing so, the machining operation is eased and the portions of the housing are better aligned with one another.

Method for controlling the level of screwing quality of a screwdriver, associated device and program implementing the method

A method for controlling a level of screwing quality of a screwdriver relative to a predetermined screwing objective. The method includes: obtaining, at a predetermined angular frequency, a series of doublets representative of a rise in screwing torque for at least one screw, constituting a first table of values, each doublet including an angle value and a torque value; determining, from the first table, a second table of values presenting the torque as a function of the angle and being representative of the true characteristic of the at least one screw; determining a third table of values, presenting the torque as a function of the angle and being representative of disturbances induced by the screwdriver during the rise in torque, from the first and second tables; analysis of the third table, delivering information representative of a dispersion and/or a deviation relative to the screwing objective, resulting from the screwdriver-induced disturbances.

RATCHET WRENCH

An electric ratchet wrench as one example of the ratchet wrench includes an electric motor, a holder that rotatably holds a socket via a one-way clutch mechanism, and a spindle configured to convert a driving force from the motor into a reciprocating rotation motion of the holder. A space is provided between the socket and the holder. The space includes large interval portions and small interval portions. The small interval portions are adjacent to the large interval portions in a rotation direction (lock direction) of the socket and have distances smaller than distances of the large interval portions. Additionally, the one-way clutch mechanism includes columnar locking pins disposed between the spaces and have a diameter with a size equal to or less than the distances of the large interval portions and exceeding the distances of the small interval portions.

Powered ratchet wrench

A power tool includes a motor and an output assembly configured to receive torque from the motor. The output assembly includes an anvil having a cylindrical body portion, an output member configured to engage a socket, and a curvilinear transition portion that tapers between the body portion and the output member. The transition portion defines a radius in a plane containing a rotational axis of the anvil that is greater than 1.5 mm. The output assembly also includes a pawl that is moveable between a first position in which the pawl is operatively coupled to drive the anvil in a first direction and a second position in which the pawl is operatively coupled to drive the anvil in a second direction opposite the first direction.

PCB with integrated switches

A printed circuit board (PCB) for motor and display control of a tool. The PCB is disposed within a housing portion of the tool substantially perpendicular to a display assembly of the tool. The PCB includes integrated switches adapted to engage corresponding buttons of the display assembly. The housing portion and display assembly including features to restrict movement of the PCB relative to the housing portion.

DOUBLE OVERMOLDED DISPLAY HOUSING ASSEMBLY

A display housing assembly has a base, a lens, and buttons. The base, lens, and buttons may be shaped to correspond with an external geometry of a tool housing, such as, for example, curved, arcuate or cylindrically shaped. The display housing assembly may also be assembled by molding the lens, molding the base over the lens, and molding the buttons over the base.

CONTROLLING BRUSHLESS MOTOR COMMUTATION
20220224258 · 2022-07-14 · ·

A computer implemented method for controlling commutation of a brushless DC (BLDC) motor. The method includes controlling a switching array to drive the BLDC motor at a first commutation, receiving and monitoring power consumption signals indicating power consumption of the BLDC motor, determining whether the power consumption exceeds a first threshold value, and controlling the switching array to drive the BLDC motor at a second commutation when the power consumption exceeds the first threshold value.

FRAME FOR DISPLAY ASSEMBLY

A display assembly for a tool having a housing. The display assembly has a display unit, a frame, a display housing, and buttons. The display housing has a protrusion that is received by an aperture of the frame adapted to receive the protrusion to couple the frame to the display housing. The display unit is disposed between the display housing and the frame. The buttons are disposed on the display housing.
