Provided is a bolting tool that includes a mounting portion and a torque transfer portion. A bolt assembly is mounted to the mounting portion. The bolt assembly includes a bolt and a nut threaded onto a position along an external threaded portion of the bolt. The torque transfer portion transfers tightening torque to the bolt and the nut of the bolt assembly mounted to the mounting portion. The mounting portion includes a bolt engagement portion, which is engageable with a head of the bolt, a nut engagement portion, which is engageable with the nut, and a coupling portion, which couples the nut engagement portion to the bolt engagement portion coaxially and with a predetermined spacing therebetween.

Apparatus and method for facilitating fastening of fasteners

Apparatuses and methods for facilitating fastening of a fastener are provided. In one example, the apparatus includes a body portion that extends distally from a body proximal portion to a body distal portion. A head portion extends distally from the body distal portion. A first prong that extends distally from a first prong proximal section that has a first thickness to a first prong distal section that has a second thickness that is less than the first thickness. A second prong that extends distally from a second prong proximal section that has a third thickness to a second prong distal section that has a fourth thickness that is less than the third thickness. The second prong is spaced apart from the first prong to define a gap therebetween that is configured to receive the fastener.

Fastening system

A fastening system including a frame, a movement control assembly, a fastener drive assembly and a collar presenting assembly. The frame can be coupled to an outside structure, for example, with a part that is to be coupled with a fastener attached to the frame. The movement control assembly is configured to controllably move the fastener drive assembly relative to the frame and the part so as to grasp the collar of the fastener, engage the threaded pin of the fastener and to threadedly engage the two structures together. The collar presenting assembly presents a collar of a fastener to the fastener drive assembly.

Backup Tools

Exemplary embodiments are disclosed of backup tools. In an exemplary embodiment, a backup tool generally includes a socket configured for receiving a nut of a flanged connection; a release nut; and an arm extending generally between the socket and the release nut. The arm defines a reaction surface configured to abut against at least a portion of the flanged connection for holding the nut against rotation when a bolt or another nut on a stud is being rotated relative to the nut within the socket of the backup tool, to thereby tighten the flanged connection.

Apparatus for tightening threaded fasteners

Apparatus for use with a tool assembly in operations of tightening or loosening threaded fasteners about an axis are disclosed, and in one example includes: a lower clamp assembly; an upper clamp assembly; a reaction adaptor assembly; and a spring assembly formed between the upper clamp assembly and the reaction adaptor assembly. Advantageously an operator can tighten or loosen all fasteners without having to change the initial setup of the apparatus. The lower clamp assembly eliminates the need for extra operators and heavy and bulky equipment to hold the apparatus near the fasteners. The upper clamp allows the operator to rotate the apparatus around with ease. The spring assembly stabilizes and eases vertical height adjustment of the apparatus. The reaction adaptor substantially negates reaction turning forces of the tool assembly during the operations. Drive knobs provide easy alignment of and quick and safe mounting of the tool assembly on the fasteners. Bolting operations about an axis are completed faster, cheaper and with little or no risk of operator injury.

FASTENER POSITION HOLDING TOOL
