A tool and method of securing a clamp is provided. The tool includes a first handle having a first jaw portion on one end. An arm is pivotally coupled to the first handle, the having a second jaw portion on one end. A second handle is adjacent the first handle. A force adjustment mechanism is rotatably coupled between the arm and the second handle. The force adjustment mechanism has a biasing member operably coupled between the arm and an adjustment member, the force adjustment mechanism further having at least one bearing member disposed between the arm and the adjustment member. The second handle is arranged to rotate relative to the arm based at least in part on a force applied on the second handle by the biasing member via the at least one bearing member.

The tool head includes a tension mechanism, a gripper assembly secured to the tension mechanism, and a tool nose. The tension mechanism includes a lead screw secured to an electric driver in the base and a lead nut attached to the lead screw. The gripper assembly includes a gripper housing secured to the lead nut. As the lead screw rotates, the lead nut moves along the lead screw pulling the gripper housing toward the base of the tool to tension the metal locking tie.

CRIMPING TOOL FOR BAND CLAMP

A crimping tool is provided. The crimping tool includes a movable jaw. The jaw being movable from an open and crimped positions. In an embodiment a linkage is coupled to the jaw and is rotatable about an axle. A member is provided having at least a first and second gear portion, the member pivoting about the linkage and moving relative to the main axle as the jaw moves from the open to the crimped position. A ring gear is coupled to the second gear portion and cooperate therewith to rotate the member about the axle. A drive gear rotates about the axle and cooperates with the first gear portion cooperating to rotate the member relative to the linkage. A handle is pivotally coupled to the axle. A drive pawl is coupled to the handle and rotates the drive gear in response to the handle moving from a first to a second position.

On the other end portion of the clamp body, a second grip piece is formed. A holder is provided with a holding groove and a grip portion. The holding groove has an insertion opening opened in a direction intersecting with an axial direction of the clamp body, and a side opening opened on at least one end side in the axial direction of the clamp body. A protrusion is provided on at least one of opposing inner surfaces of the holding groove. When the pair of grip pieces are inserted in the holding groove, the protrusion can be arranged inside a part of the slit located in the first grip piece.

A biaser is operationally coupled to each member. Each of a pair of first tips is coupled to and extends from a first side of the frame. The frame positions the first tips for insertion into the complementary orifices of the snap ring. The biaser is positioned to diverge and converge the members to respectively widen and narrow the snap ring.

Hose clamp support tool

A hose clamp support tool includes a collar that is attached to a nose of a rotational driver. A drive extension includes a driven socket end that is connected to a drive output of the rotational driver, and a screw socket end that engages a screw of a hose clamp. A support structure is coupled to the collar, and is slideably moveable relative to the drive extension along the central drive axis. The support structure includes a cylindrical portion. The drive extension extends through and is rotatably supported by the cylindrical portion. The support structure includes a hood. The hose clamp is secured between the hood and the screw socket end of the drive extension during installation and removal operations. A biasing device is operable to bias the support structure along the central drive axis relative to the drive extension.

A method of operating a pre-opened pre-positioned clamp, the clamp being operable between an open and a closed position. The method comprises releasing the clamp from the open position using a tool head (201), making measurements of a movement of the tool head resulting from the releasing, recording data relating to the measurements, determining a frequency content of the data, and, on the basis of the determined frequency content, determining whether the clamp has moved to the closed position.

A powered banding device includes a housing and a plurality of gripping rollers within the housing that are configured to pull a tail end of a band through a feed slot as the gripping rollers rotate. The device also includes torque circuitry coupled to an electric motor driving the plurality of gripping rollers, which the torque circuitry is configured to calculate a torque on the band using a motor current to determine when to stop pulling. A roller pin is configured to move through a roller slot after the electric motor stops pulling to form a fold in the band as the roller pin moves to an end of a downward curved portion of the roller slot. A cutter blade behind the roller pin follows the roller pin and cuts the band above the roller pin and flattens a cut end over a buckle of the band.
