BIO-BASED, BIODEGRADABLE COMPOSITIONS AND ARTICLES MADE THEREFROM
Disclosed herein are compositions and articles made therefrom, the compositions and articles comprising at least one hydrocolloid, at least one plasticizer, at least one filler and/or humectant and water. Typically, the components are derived from biological sources, such as seaweed, plants, or animals. Typically, the components are made from food quality ingredients, making the compositions and articles edible and/or biodegradable. The compositions are used to form articles, such as straws, and the articles have desirable flexibility and moisture barrier properties, such as swelling resistance, as well as biodegradability and/or compostability properties.
Tumbler with maneuverable straw
A tumbler with maneuverable straw is an apparatus that facilitates the consumption of small edible additives of a beverage. The apparatus includes a straw assembly, a lid, and a tumbler. The straw assembly includes a mouthpiece, a straw, and a main channel. The straw assembly delivers the beverage and small edible additives contained within the tumbler to the mouth of the user. The mouthpiece serves as a mount for the lips of the user and allows the user to maneuver the straw within the tumbler. The lid covers an open end of the tumbler and mounts the straw assembly onto the tumbler. The lid seals the open end of the tumbler, preventing any leakage, and receives the straw assembly. The tumbler contains a beverage and any small edible additives such as tapioca balls. The apparatus further includes a friction inducing base that protects a closed end of the tumbler.

ANTIMICROBIAL AND ADHESION-PROOF TITANIUM TABLEWARE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF THE SAME
An antimicrobial and adhesion-proof titanium tableware and a manufacturing method of the same are provided. The antimicrobial and adhesion-proof titanium tableware is made of a titanium substrate, and includes a contact portion and an oxidation layer structure. The contact portion is used for contacting foods, food ingredients, drinking water, beverages, or body parts of a user. The oxidation layer structure is formed on one part of a surface of the titanium substrate corresponding to the contact portion. The titanium substrate is made of titanium in α phase, and the oxidation layer structure is a titanium dioxide film in a rutile crystalline form. The oxidation layer structure has a roughened surface and an oxygen diffusion layer formed at an interface of the oxidation layer structure and the titanium substrate.
COMPOSTABLE AIDS FOR EATING OR DRINKING MADE OF VEGETABLE STARCH AND VEGETABLE THICKENER OR GELLING AGENT AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING SAME
The present invention relates to compostable tools for eating and for drinking, such as drinking straws or cutlery. The present invention furthermore relates to biodegradable medical commodities such as cotton swabs, tongue depressors or disposable toothbrushes. The tools and the medical commodities of the present invention comprise plant starch and plant-based thickener and gelling agents and can furthermore comprise cellulose/mechanical pulp, wax, oil and/or glycerine. The tools and the medical commodities of the present invention can furthermore comprise an outer coating which preferably comprises wax and/or a bipolymer, preferably rubber. The present invention additionally relates to a method for producing compostable tools for eating or drinking and for biodegradable medical commodities.
LIP-PUCKER AVOIDING DRINKING STRAW
A lip-pucker avoiding drinking straw providing a tube body defining an enclosed conduit for a flow of liquid. The tube body and enclosed conduit have a substantially round sectional profile at a distal end meant to be placed into a container of liquid, and a substantially oblong sectional profile at a proximal end meant to be placed between lips of a user and to be accommodated by the lips of the user without requiring puckering or pursing of the lips. The sectional profile of the enclosed conduit changes from a round profile at the distal end and through approximately 90 percent of the tube body to an oblong profile at the proximal end, with the change of profile occurring at a transition segment near the proximal end. An optional bending segment can be provided to provide a bend in the tube body or allow the user to make such a bend. The sectional area or circumference of the enclosed conduit at the proximal end is not less than the sectional area at the distal end.
