Insulating glass unit fluid exchange assembly and method
A fluid exchanging system and method for use in exchanging fluids in insulating glass units (IGUs). The fluid exchanging system includes an articulating arm having a plurality of members and arms to allow movement about multiple axes defined by the articulating arm, an optical sensor system, coupled to the articulating arm, for identifying an opening in a spacer frame of an IGU, and a fluid exchanging apparatus releasably couplable to the articulating arm. The fluid exchanging apparatus also includes a fluid exchanging head for evacuating atmospheric air from the IGU and dispensing fluid into the IGU.
CONTINUUM ROBOT CONTROL SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM
An object is to provide a mechanism that can ensure safe operation of a continuum robot. A block FTL calculates a target bending angle θ.sub.fFTL and a target rotational angle ζ.sub.fFTL of a following bending section on the basis of a target bending angle θ.sub.lt and a target rotational angle ζ.sub.lt of a distal-most bending section and a displacement of a base. A switch unit 330 selects the target bending angle θ.sub.fFTL and the target rotational angle θ.sub.fFTL of the following bending section obtained from the block FTL or a target bending angle θ.sub.lf and a target rotational angle ζ.sub.lf of the following bending section obtained from a block P.sub.l corresponding to following operating means. A kinematic computing unit 340 computes, on the basis of the target bending angle and the target rotational angle, a drive displacement by which a driving unit drives a wire in the following bending section.
Medical manipulator and manipulation method of medical manipulator
A medical manipulator includes: an insertion portion, an end effector, a bend restraining unit, a position detector, an operation unit, a first drive unit, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to generate the first drive signal based on an output and the position of the bend restraining unit which is detected by the position detector. The output is output from the operation unit that operates the bending portion.

PINCHED TUBES FOR RECONFIGURABLE ROBOTS
A device includes a tube and a sleeve configured to at least partially encircle a portion the tube along its length. The tube is flexible and airtight and defines a longitudinal axis along a center of the tube, and is configured to bend along the longitudinal axis upon at least partial evacuation of the tube to form a joint. The joint defines a joint angle relative to the longitudinal axis, thereby approximating a revolute joint with torsional stiffness. Actuating a joint includes partially evacuating a flexible tube defining a longitudinal axis, thereby forming a bend in the tube at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis at a perimeter of a rigid sleeve at least partially encircling the tube, and restoring a neutral pressure to the tube, thereby removing the bend in the tube.

Apparatus and method for controlling robot
There is provided a robot control apparatus that controls a vertical articulated robot and is suitable for direct teaching. In the apparatus, an axis setting section sets operation axes and control axes from among the axes subjected to angle control, when performing the direct teaching of changing a position of the arm tip, while retaining a posture thereof at a target posture. The operation axes can be dominant factors when determining the position of the arm tip and are allowed to freely move according to an external force, and the control axes can be dominant factors when determining the posture of the arm tip and are controlled by an angle control section. When performing the direct teaching, the angle control section receives an input of current angles of the operation axes and the target posture to calculate command angles of the respective control axes according to inverse kinematics calculation.

End-of-arm tool with a load cell
Systems and methods relating to an end-of-arm-tool that can be used in connection with the automated handling of vehicles, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), are disclosed. The described systems and methods can include an end-of-arm-tool which may include a load cell coupled to an end effector, such that forces and torques exerted on the end effector are translated onto the load cell. The measurement of forces and torques exerted on the end effector can facilitate determining various information in connection with the aerial vehicle, such as inertial properties or parameters associated with the aerial vehicle, the quality of the engagement between the end effector and the aerial vehicle, as well as diagnostic information in connection with the aerial vehicle. Additionally, the use of a load cell to measure forces and torques exerted on the end effector can eliminate the need to utilize traditional contact sensors typically required on the contact surfaces of an end-of-arm tool.
