A reel holding device includes a first reel support member that includes a first placement member that rotatably supports a first reel and a second reel support member that supports a second reel. The first reel support member is rotatable between a reference position at which a carrier tape of the first reel is supplied to the mounter, and a discharge position for discharging the first reel. By rotating the first reel support member from the reference position toward the discharge position, the first reel drops through an opening of the first placement member and is discharged. When the first reel support member returns from the discharge position to the reference position, the second reel moves through the opening and into the interior of the first placement member.

Case unpacking system and method

A product unpacking system includes a work surface at a first height and a product unloading position at a second height. An adjustable cutter is positioned adjacent to the work surface and configured to cut a plurality of sides of each case. A case movement device, such as a robot or manual mover, is configured to retrieve a case from a group of cases and move the case to the cutter to cut a plurality of sides of the case. The case movement device may then move the cut case to an unload position over a product container to allow products within the case to drop into the product container. A system of conveyors may be used to convey empty product containers toward the work surface and to convey filled product containers away from the work surface. The system may be automated to receive recipe information for each case to be unloaded and modify parameters of the system based on the case.

The message router communicatively connects, by way of the wireless network, the robotic device to the tools. The first tool is operable by a manipulator of the robotic device and includes an adapter configured to removably couple to the tool holster, a wireless tag reader that scans the wireless tag when the first tool is coupled to the tool holster, and a processor that connects to the wireless network and communicates with the robotic device by way of the message router.

The system also includes an actuation unit to move the unpackaged product from the contact position of the carrier to a receiving container. The actuation unit may include a mechanical arm to lift the unpackaged product from the carrier and deposit the unpackaged product in the receiving container, and a vacuum tool connected to an end of the mechanical arm. The vacuum tool may be operable to hold the unpackaged product as the unpackaged product is moved by the actuation unit from the carrier to the receiving container. The vacuum tool may include one or more arrays of suction devices, where each array of suction devices is connected to a single vacuum source.

Pre-plating systems and related methods are disclosed. A pre-plating system includes a press, an infeed robot configured to deliver a structural member to the press, and an outfeed robot configured to remove the structural member from the press. The press is configured to secure a plate to the structural member while the structural member is held in position by at least one of the infeed robot or the outfeed robot. A pre-plating system includes a press, a transfer pedestal, a plate picking robot, and a press loading robot. The plate picking robot is configured to pick a plate from a container and position the plate on the transfer pedestal. The press loading robot is configured to transfer the plate to the press. The press is configured to press the plate into a structural member positioned within the press.
