A surrounding monitoring device of a work machine includes: a display unit; a plurality of cameras acquiring a surrounding condition of the work machine; an image processing unit generating a bird's-eye image indicating the surrounding condition of the work machine on the basis of images imaged by the cameras; a work machine operation detection unit detecting an operation of the work machine; and a display control unit displaying, on the display unit, a single camera image imaged by one or more cameras, of the plurality of cameras, the bird's-eye image, mechanical gauge display, menu display, and/or breakdown information display. Further, when the operation of the work machine is detected, the display control unit performs control of enlarging surroundings of the work machine on the bird's-eye image, compared with surroundings of the work machine on the bird's-eye image before the operation of the work machine is detected.
