The present invention is a reciprocating culinary knife assembly. The assembly is battery operated and operates a steak knife in reciprocating fashion. An ergonomic, oversized handle portion is designed for users with arthritis or other debilitating conditions that render handling small implements difficult. A single removable battery pack is contained within a battery chamber formed at one end of the housing for the assembly; the pack designed for easy snap fit within the chamber. The housing is made of a rigid material which is covered with a pliable material such as rubber or silicon to enhance gripping and further reduce discomfort. A pressure-sensing mechanism operates as an on/off switch to enhance user safety.

TOOL HAVING A DETECTABLE WIRELESS MARKER OR TAG

A tool having a detectable wireless marker or tag is provided. The tool has a working portion with a projection or tang by which the working portion of the tool is held, a wireless tag located on, but insulated from the tang, and a handle disposed over and encompassing the projection or tang and the wireless tag. In an exemplary embodiment, the wireless tag is insulated from the tang using a housing assembly made up of: an enclosure with a side opening for receiving a detectable wireless tag; a cover that securely fits over the side opening; and a snap-fit assembly component integrally formed on an outer surface of the enclosure for receiving a tools' tang. The invention allows for the use of fragile markers or tags, which are protected by the housing assembly from temperatures and pressures used during, for example, tool handle manufacturing processes. Also provided is a method for providing a tool with a detectable wireless tag, and a method for tracking and tracing tools used within a packaging facility.

Systems and methods for connecting a wireless motor control system for handheld knives to a hand piece

A system for controlling operation of a power tool. The system includes a handpiece having a power tool, a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, and a wireless transceiver. The system also includes a power pack having an electric motor driving the power tool. The power pack also includes a wireless transceiver, an RFID reader, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions for pairing the handpiece to the power pack. When executed by at least one processor, the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to: interrogate the RFID tag with the RFID reader; receive an RFID signal from the RFID tag including identifying information for the handpiece; store the unique identifying information for the handpiece at the power pack; and, based on receipt of the unique identifying information, complete wireless pairing of the handpiece to the power pack.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RESTRICTING MOTOR OPERATION FOR WIRELESS HANDHELD KNIVES

A power pack for a power tool. The power pack includes an electric motor configured to drive a power tool. The power pack also includes a motor controller with a relay circuit communicating with the electric motor. The relay circuit has a switch that may be connected to a power supply, whereby the power supply powers the electric motor. The power pack also comprises non-transitory computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions for monitoring operation of the power pack. When executed by at least one processor, the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to: monitor input data relating to operation of the power pack; determine, based at least in part on the input data, that operation of the power pack deviated from an ideal state; and, based on the determination of deviation, cause the switch to electrically disconnect the electric motor from the power supply.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING A WIRELESS MOTOR DRIVE CONTROL SYSTEM FOR HANDHELD KNIVES

A power pack for a power tool. The power pack includes an electric motor configured for driving engagement with the power tool. The power pack also includes a motor controller having a relay circuit connected a electric motor. The relay circuit includes has a switch selectively connected to a power supply. The power supply powers the electric motor. The motor controller also includes non-transitory computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions for monitoring operation of the stored power pack. When executed by at least one processor, the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to: monitor input data relating to operation of the power pack; determine, based on the input data, that operation of the power pack deviated from an ideal state; and, based on the determination of deviation, cause the switch to electrically disconnect the electric motor from the power supply.
