A flex clipper provides a feature to help the cutting blade set float more effortlessly by adjusting automatically to the contours of a client's head to prevent getting stuck and causing cuts and irritation to the scalp. The hair clippers preferably also uses a self-contained motor-driven adjustment mechanism to adjust the relative position of the stationary and reciprocating blades of a common type of blade set. A shaving head for an electric dry shaver includes a base element for carrying at least three cutter units. Each unit provides an outer cutter and an inner cutter arranged to be moved in sliding contact relative to each other. At least one cutter unit includes a foil-type outer cutter. The shaving head further includes a first trimmer-type cutting unit that has a plurality of slots defined by a plurality of adjacent bar elements featuring cutting edges. The shaving head also includes a second trimmer-type cutting unit having an outer cutter that includes a plurality of teeth featuring cutting edges and spaced apart from each other so as to define a plurality of slits.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SMART PERSONAL GROOMING

A smart personal grooming device or otherwise cutting device comprises a body with a handle, a head portion, a hair cutting implement, and a camera oriented toward the hair cutting implement. The camera captures images of a skin area and a hair area of a user and a processor detects, based the images, each of the skin area and the hair area. A boundary is defined between the skin area and the hair area. The processor determines a control state based on the boundary that causes the processor to implement one or more algorithms controlling an operating or feature of the smart personal grooming device or otherwise cutting device, including, for example, activating the cutting implement to cause the cutting implement to remove hair in a hair area of the user.
