COMPLIANT ROLLER CUTTER

A roller cutter for cutting a material includes a rotatable roller, a rotatable blade, and a rotation transmission mechanism. The roller includes an outer rim configured to engage the material at a roller engagement point. The blade includes a cutting edge configured to cut the material at a blade engagement point. The blade engagement point is spaced from the roller engagement point. The rotation transmission mechanism is configured to drivingly interconnect the blade and the roller such that the blade rotates faster than the roller. The roller cutter is configured such that the cutting edge applies both a compressive shear force and a tangential shear force to the material at the blade engagement point as the blade is pressed into the material and the blade and the roller rotate.

Hand-operated rotary belt cutter

The disclosed inventive concept provides a rotary cutter and method of accurately cutting a ribbed transmission belt lengthwise to a desired width. The rotary cutter includes an upper portion having a handle end and a pivot end and a lower portion having a handle end and a pivot end. The pivot ends of each portion are joined by a common pivot. A belt input pulley and a rotary cutting wheel are rotatably attached to the upper portion. A drive wheel is rotatably attached to the lower portion. A belt output pulley is rotatably attached to the common pivot. Preferably but not absolutely the belt input pulley and the belt output pulley have ribbed outer surfaces. A cutting wheel cover is fixed around at least a portion of the cutting wheel. The upper portion is movable between an open, belt-fitting position and a closed, belt-cutting position relative to the lower portion.

The present disclosure relates to safety blades for use in utility knives, related assemblies and methods of manufacturing. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to safety blades for use in utility knives, related assemblies and methods of manufacture which limit user exposure to associated cutting edges.

Methods of operating cutting tools

A method of cutting a tie wrap, bound about at least one wire, using a cutting tool is provided. The method comprising steps of: applying a housing of the cutting tool to the tie wrap, positioning a portion of the tie wrap within a first groove of the housing between first two opposing sidewalls and second two opposite sidewalls of the housing, moving the at least one wire and maintaining the at least one wire a distance away from the tie wrap, moving a circular blade of the cutting tool against the portion of the tie wrap, positioned within the first groove, and at least partially cutting the tie wrap with the circular blade. In some examples, the method further comprises controlling a depth of the circular blade within the tie wrap while the circular blade at least partially cuts the tie wrap.

Cutting methods

A tool for cutting a tie wrap bound about a wire bundle. The tool includes a body portion having a generally disc-shaped cutter and cutting edge. A shield covers one side of the cutter and defines first and second shield slots in communication with the cutting edge. A housing pivotally connected to the body portion covers the other side of the cutter and defines first and second housing slots that communicate with the cutting edge. The housing pivots between first, second, and third positions. In the first position, the first housing slot communicates with the first shield slot to expose the cutting edge for cutting purposes. In the second position, the first housing slot is out of communication with the first shield slot, thereby covering the cutting edge. And, in the third position, the second housing slot communicates with the second shield slot to expose the cutting edge.

A rotary cutter having a blade holder configured to receive a rotary blade is provided. In some configurations, the rotary cutter has one or more shields slidably connected to a body and configured to move between a retracted position and an extended position. In some configurations, when a first shield is in an extended position it has a portion disposed beyond a first portion of the edge of the rotary blade and when a second shield is a second extended position it has a portion disposed beyond a second portion of the edge of the rotary blade different than the first portion of the rotary blade.

The invention provides a cutting device having a main body, a cutting component and a connection member. The cutting component is mutually assembled with the main body via the connection member, and the cutting component is further provided with a cutting member, wherein a blade portion and an extension portion of the cutting member form an angle of 60 to 84 degrees therebetween. Accordingly, a user is able to hold a holding portion thereof and press the blade portion of the cutting component against an object to be cut so as to perform cutting; the cutting component can be rotated 360 degrees via the connection member, such that the cutting component can be rotated to all angles when a cutting direction is changed, thereby achieving the effect of easily changing the cutting direction thereof.

MINCER

A mincer includes a housing, a hinged door, a handle, a cam, an axle, and a plurality of circular blades mounted on the axle. Rotation of the handle or knob with respect to the housing causes rotation of the cam with respect to the housing, which in turn causes the axle and the blades mounted thereon to travel radially outward or inward with respect to the housing to extend or retract the blades out of or into the housing. The mincer can be operated to extend the blades for operation and to retract the blades for storage. The door can be closed for operation and opened for cleaning of the mincer.
