A utility knife includes a hollow handle having a slot and an opening at each end. A razor is slidable between each end of the handle and may protrude at each opposing end for cutting use. The razor is mounted to a shuttle which includes a tab that is positioned within the slot. The user may use the tab to slide the shuttle and the blade within the handle between the two ends, as desired. A U-shaped blocking component is pivotally attached to the handle and is used to block sliding movement of the tab beyond a midpoint of the handle to prevent the razor protruding into the user's hand. The user must unlock the blocking element to safely allow the shuttle to be slid past.

A box top opener employs a trapezoidal ceramic blade having a cutting edge which is positionable at multiple positions. A knob is rotatable to extend and retract the blade. A guide projects from a front of the cutter body to provide a guide surface engageable against the top of a box. In one embodiment, a blade carrier has a follower which traverses a spiral track for displacing the blade.

Folding Knife

A folding knife having an elongated handle defining a finger hole proximate one end of the handle and a blade having a cutting edge and pivotally connected to the handle and configured to move with respect to the handle between a retracted position and an extended position. The blade is configured such that a portion of the cutting edge extends into the finger hole upon the blade being in the retracted position. A blade cover is connected to the handle and is configured to move between an operable position and a withdrawn position. A spring is configured to contact and automatically move the blade cover from the operable position towards the withdrawn position, whereby, as the blade reaches the retracted position, the blade cover is automatically moved to the operable position and covers the portion of the cutting edge of the blade extending into the finger hole, and upon the blade moving towards the extended position, the spring automatically moves the blade cover from the operable position towards the withdrawn position.

A safety knife functions as both a box cutter and a separate line cutter. A slidable grip is manually displaceable between two stable safety positions. In one safety position, the grip obstructs access to a forwardly projecting blade. In a second safety position, the grip obstructs access to the line cutter.

A chopping tool for safely chopping food. The chopping tool includes a blade with a blade edge at a distal end, and a spine at a proximal end. The spine includes two lateral edges with a receptor positioned near each lateral edge. The chopping tool also includes two handles engaging the blade, each handle including a scabbard section for grabbing with fingers, a horizontal section extending from the scabbard section towards and engaging the receptor on the spine, and a vertical section protruding from the scabbard section towards the distal end of the blade. Each handle is configured to pivot about a point of contact between a bottom end of the vertical section and a cutting surface to move the blade edge downward towards the cutting surface and upward away from the cutting surface in an alternating fashion for chopping an article placed on the cutting surface.
