METHOD FOR SELECTIVELY FEEDING ROLLS OF PAPER COMING OUT OF A LOG SAW UNIT AND RELATIVE LOG SAW UNIT
A method for selectively feeding rolls of paper coming out of a log saw unit (10), wherein the log saw unit (10) comprises (n) feeding channels (12) for feeding logs (11) towards a cutting device (13) provided at the outlet with (n) unloading belts (14) in a number equal to the feeding channels (12), comprises a step of generating a stop signal relating to a portion of a packaging unit downstream of the log saw unit (10) further to the detection of accumulation of rolls (11′) and/or of stopping of a packaging machine, as well as a step of attributing said stop signal to a feeding channel/sub-group of feeding channels (12) operatively associated with the portion of the packaging unit, called “feeding channels/sub-groups of feeding channels (12) subject to stopping”, wherein the method—upon receipt of the stop signal—comprises at least the steps of: ending the cutting of the log (11) in progress on all of the (n) feeding channels (12) of the log saw unit (10), selectively stopping the forward movement of a new log (11) towards the cutting device (13) just in the feeding channels/sub-groups of feeding channels (12) subject to stopping through the stopping of the forward movement of the carriers (15) of the carrier device (16) of the feeding channels/sub-groups of feeding channels (12) subject to stopping, proceeding without interruption in the operative feeding channels (12), namely those not subject to the stop signal, with the cutting of the logs (11) in succession.

Device and method for creating partial cuts in food products
A device for creating partial cuts, such as transverse spiral cuts, into an elongated food product, such as hot dogs, frankfurters, and wieners, the device having an upper housing section with at least one top blade and a lower housing section with at least one bottom blade, wherein closing the top housing on top of the lower housing with the elongated food product inside allows the top blades and the bottom blades to partially cut through the elongated food product creating a helical groove pattern around the outer surface of the elongated food product while leaving an inner core intact. The device may also have guide channels to guide a skewer through the inner core for easy removal of the food product from the housing. The device can also be provided as a kit with skewers, modified tongs, and a heating unit to cook the food product in the housing.

Dynamic regulation of contact pressures in a blade sharpening system
Dynamic regulation of contact pressures in a blade sharpening system is provided. An example multiphase grinding wheel has a grinding face with one or more abrasive concentric rings for sharpening the cutting blade of the log saw machine, and one or more padded concentric rings consisting of fiber padding. Sharpening with the multiphase grinding wheel improves cut quality, increases blade life, removes glues and varnishes from the cutting blade, reduces blade deformation, and hones the edge of the cutting blade. A pneumatic tensioning system uses air bladders to apply dynamic cushioning and processor-controlled contact pressure between the grinding wheels and the cutting blade during sharpening. The fiber-padded grinding wheels and the air bladder tensioner provide improved sharpness of the cutting blade and longer life for the mechanical components.

Wire saw
A device for cutting a length of pipe includes a clamp portion for clamping around a length of pipe and a bow moveable with respect to the clamp portion that retains a loop of diamond embedded wire. The device further includes a feed for driving the bow with respect to the clamp portion and a detector for detecting bending of the wire and a control responsive to the detector for controlling feed rates. The device is made of modular parts and has synchronizing arms for clamping around a length of pipe. In one embodiment, the wheels are retained in enclosures with slots through which the cutting wire passes.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF DUCT MEMBERS
An apparatus for forming and sealing a duct member for use in an air handling system. At least one work station accommodates a work piece, which is generally a cylindrical tube.
PELLETIZER APPARATUS
This pelletizer apparatus includes an observation unit for observing, from the outside of a housing chamber, a cut section of a synthetic resin cut by cutting teeth inside the housing chamber. The observation unit includes an optical system which sends an optical image of the cut section from the inside of the housing chamber to the outside of the housing chamber. Thus, with this pelletizer apparatus, the cut section can be visually checked clearly via the optical system.
