A tissue log cutting saw has an arm movable orbitally within an interior of saw house. A spindle and housing is mounted to the arm. A tool holder with a blade is arrangeable at a first end of the spindle, and an opposite second end rotationally drives the spindle while providing access to an operator of a clamp in the spindle. The clamp is moveable between a hold position in which the clamp engages the tool holder at the first end, and a release position in which the clamp disengages from the tool holder and allows the tool holder to be removed from the first end. An actuator mounted to a structure separate from the arm has an end effector that cooperates with the operator of the clamp to enable the tool holder to be released from the clamp to facilitate automatic changing of a blade of the saw.

In a method for removing a wrapping, such as plastic film, from a roll of material an apparatus is used, which has a roll supporting unit, and a cutting means. The roll supporting unit is configured to rotate the roll supported thereon, and the cutting means is movable into cutting abutment against the envelope surface of the supported roll for removal of the wrapping during rotation of the roll.

A machine for transversely cutting logs of paper material including a cutting station in which is arranged a cutting unit including an arm rotating about a horizontal axis and on which it can mounted a blade adapted to perform the transverse cutting of one or more logs of paper material introduced in the machine and placed in the cutting station, where is arranged a loading station in which a support is provided for supporting a further blade intended to replace the blade mounted on said arm, and in which said support is connected to a mobile unit allowing it to be moved between said stations. A system for packaging groups of paper rolls, including a cutting-off machine that cuts paper logs, each group including rolls obtained from a same log. The system includes: a first unit for arranging the individual rolls spaced apart from each other; a second unit forming the groups by grouping a predetermined number of rolls, the second unit being provided with blades adapted to push from the back the last roll of each group to be formed and each formed group as the individual groups are formed by exerting a pushing action on the rear base of said last roll while the front base and a lateral surface of each roll are free; a third unit located downstream of the second unit and adapted to convey the groups towards a packaging machine.
