The roll supporting unit is configured to rotate the roll supported thereon, and the cutting means is movable into cutting abutment against the envelope surface of the supported roll for removal of the wrapping during rotation of the roll.

The device comprises two control surfaces each of which is in contact with a corresponding side (21, 22) of the cutting edge (20) and is connected with a transducer (R4), which produces an electrical displacement signal (S4) proportional to a displacement of the control surface with respect to said plane (X). Furthermore, the device comprises a processing unit (E) that receives said displacement signals (S4) and compares them, emitting an error signal if the comparison produces a value that exceeds a predetermined limit. The control surfaces are the surfaces that delimit an external groove (40) of a roller (4) that is free to translate along an axis (A4) perpendicular to said plane (X) and spaced from the blade (2) by an amount such that said cutting edge (20) passes in said groove (40).

A DEVICE FOR CLAMPING LOGS DURING CUTTING, LOG SAW COMPRISING THE DEVICE AND METHOD
The clamping device includes a flexible member extending approximately according to an arc of circumference open at the bottom at a supporting and sliding surface of the logs to be cut. Actuator members are further provided for clamping and releasing the flexible member around the logs to be cut which advance along the feed path through the arc of circumference defined by the flexible member. The actuator members include a first tensioning and release device of the flexible member and a second tensioning and release device of the flexible member. The first tensioning and release device and the second tensioning and release device are adapted to engage two ends of the flexible member, and to increase and reduce the radius of the arc of circumference defined by the flexible member, which extends between the first tensioning and release device and the second tensioning and release device.
Cutting system
A cutting system has a processing machine and a sheet cutter which selectively attaches to the processing machine. The processing machine includes a conveying mechanism, a processing unit, and a lid. The conveying mechanism is configured to convey the sheet. The processing unit is configured to process the sheet conveyed by the conveying mechanism. The lid is configured to open and close a conveyance path through which the sheet is conveyed. The sheet cutter includes a main body, a cutting unit attached to the main body and including a cutter slidable in a first direction, the cutting unit being configured to cut, along in the first direction, the sheet with the cutter, and an attacher configured to attach the main body to the processing machine. In a case where the main body is attached to the processing machine, the main body is positioned relative to the lid.
