CHEMICAL JUG WASHER AND DISPOSAL ASSEMBLY
20180290189 · 2018-10-11 ·

A combination cleaning and disposal assembly for safely cleaning and rendering unusable a jug containing a hazardous chemical residue. A body supports a receiving chamber for receiving the jug. A manifold is supported by the body and has a plurality of spikes arrayed toward the jug. A pressurized fluid source is communicated to the manifold such that, upon an inter-displacement occurs between the manifold and the container, the spikes are caused to pierce the container, the pressurized fluid being caused to issue from the spikes to clean an interior of the container. A floor of the chamber has irregular surfaces to assist in deforming the jug during puncturing and outflow of contaminated fluid. A drain is located underneath the jug receiving chamber which collects and segregates the fluid contaminated with the chemical residue for securing disposal concurrent with removing and disposing of the cleaned and punctured jug.

SHEATHED METALLIC NEEDLES FOR PRODUCING Z-CHANNELS IN FIBROUS PREFORMS
20240308921 · 2024-09-19 ·

A needle array suitable for perforating a fibrous preform includes a backplate, a plurality of needles removably attached to and extending away from the backplate, and a collar disposed around each of the plurality of needles. Each of the plurality of needles includes a metallic body, and a polymer sheath covering the metallic body.

TOOLING FOR PRODUCING Z-CHANNELS IN CERAMIC FIBER PREFORMS
20240308922 · 2024-09-19 ·

A needle array suitable for perforating a fibrous preform includes a backplate and a plurality of needles individually removably attached to and extending away from the backplate. Each of the plurality of needles includes a bundle of ceramic filaments, a metallic sheath surrounding a first end of the bundle abutting the backplate, and a sharpened point on the second end of the bundle, the second end being oppositely disposed from the first end.

METHOD OF REDUCING SURFACE DEFORMATION FROM Z-CHANNEL CREATION
20240300861 · 2024-09-12 ·

A method of forming a ceramic matrix composite includes arranging a plurality of ceramic fibers into a preform, mounting the preform within a tooling fixture, perforating the preform to form a plurality of z-channels, each of the plurality of z-channels extending completely through a thickness of the preform, pushing a pin array against a surface of the preform through infiltration holes in the tooling fixture to apply a compressive force on the preform, and subsequently, removing the pin array from the surface of the preform. The pin array includes a plurality of pins extending from a backplate. Each of the plurality of pins is aligned with a respective infiltration hole of the tooling fixture.

Method for the manufacture of a hole in a component consisting of a composite material

A method for the manufacture of a hole in a component consisting of a composite material, such as a fiber reinforced plastic part or a fabric reinforced plastic part, which is characterized in that the component having first and second oppositely disposed sides is placed with its first side on a support having an iris diaphragm, in that a tip which diverges in the axial direction is pressed coming from the second side of the component through the component, which optionally has a pre-piercing, for the formation of the hole or for the enlargement of the pre-piercing and in that the iris diaphragm has a smaller starting opening which receives a narrower region of the tip and opens into a larger opening with increasing penetration of the component by the tip, whereby the component is supported during the hole formation over an as large as possible area from the first side. A piercing aid in the form of an iris diaphragm or a corresponding die button is likewise claimed.
