DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MAKING CUSTOM PRINTED PRODUCTS

A device, system and method for making custom printed products. In one embodiment of the method, input selecting one or more vector graphics is received from a user device along with a size of for the printed product. Pixel edge detection is performed on the image to generate a plurality of polygons corresponding to all shapes in the image. Polygons below a size threshold are removed. An offset is applied to each polygon. The polygons are combined. A smoothing algorithm is applied to the combined polygon. A set of curves that define the smoothed polygon is determined. A cut path is dynamically generating for the printed product in real-time in dependence on the modified vector graphic cut path and the received size so that the cut path has a shape dependent on the modified vector graphic cut path and a size dependent on the received size. The image is printed on a substrate for the image product in dependence on the received size and the offset so that the printed image has a printed size equal to the received size less the offset. The substrate is cut in dependence on the cut path.

Cutting plotter

A cutting plotter includes a cutting plotter shell, a placement plate disposed outside the cutting plotter shell, an upper transmission assembly and a lower transmission assembly disposed at two ends of the cutting plotter shell, and a belt assembly disposed in the cutting plotter. The lower transmission assembly and the upper transmission assembly correspond to each other to assist paper in entering the cutting plotter. A slide rod is disposed in the cutting plotter shell and located at the top of the upper transmission assembly, and a cutting tool assembly is disposed on the slide rod. The belt assembly includes a driving motor. A belt body is steered through a steering belt wheel of the belt assembly, and the distance between parallel parts of the belt body is decreased through two small-radius tensioning belt wheels, such that the chain installation space is reduced and the cutting plotter is compact.

Disclosed herein is a planning and impositioning technique for industrial printing orders that evaluates and ranks potential planning and impositioning schemes for a given print order based on available printing apparatus, media, and die-cutter specifications. The printing schemes make use non-die cutter operations to subdivide a media sheet, followed by a series of die-cutter operations each subdivision to take advantage of industrial printer efficiency. This printing operation is enabled by planning and impositioning phases that generate print instructions allows a change in media size from printer apparatus to dies. Specifically, during the planning phase of the print order, a printer apparatus and a die or set of dies are selected where the media size used by the printer apparatus is larger than the die(s) is/are designed for.

Quick connect mechanism for a draw stud assembly

An apparatus for creating holes in a workpiece includes a knockout punch tool having a movable piston. The apparatus also includes a draw stud assembly having a connector attachable to the movable piston, a draw stud, and a quick connect mechanism including mating first and second thread segments on the connector and the draw stud, respectively. The connector and the draw stud are movable between a first relative orientation where the mating first and second thread segments are misaligned to permit axial movement between the connector and the draw stud, and a second relative orientation where the mating first and second thread segments are aligned and engaged to inhibit axial movement between the connector and the draw stud.
