Apparatus and methods for gripping flexible materials
A ceramic fiber processing apparatus and method for processing ceramic fibers for the manufacture of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) is provided. The apparatus includes a frame including a plurality of unidirectional ceramic fibers wound thereabout and extending across a void therein the frame to define a first planar array of ceramic fibers and a second planar array of ceramic fibers. During use, the frame is disposed in the ceramic fiber processing apparatus in a manner to enable gripping of the first planar array of ceramic fibers with a first gripper assembly and gripping of the second planar array of ceramic fibers with a second gripper assembly. A cutting mechanism provides cutting of the plurality of unidirectional ceramic fibers to separate the first planar array of ceramic fibers and the second planar array of ceramic fibers from one another.

A printable blank sheet includes a sheet with defined separation lines, a first layer with cuts running through the first layer along the defined separation lines, and a second layer attached to a bottom side of the first layer, with perforations running through the second layer along the defined separation lines. A method for creating custom print cards includes running a printable blank sheet through a printer to print on defined print areas, wherein the sheet includes slit-over-perforation lines defining a periphery of an object in the sheet, bending the sheet along the slit-over-perforation lines to weaken and separate the slit-over-perforation lines, and detaching the object from the sheet.
Tablet splitter
A tablet splitter has a top portion that includes a splitting wedge with first and second angled sides defining a leading edge, and a bottom portion that includes a platform. The platform has a flexible matrix and a flexible tablet stabilizer disposed atop the flexible matrix for holding a tablet. The leading edge of the splitting wedge contacts the tablet and causes the flexible matrix and the flexible tablet stabilizer to flex thereunder. The tablet splits in response to the contact with the splitting wedge upon receiving a sufficient amount of force.
Device and method for cleaving a substrate
A device and method for cleaving a sample includes: creating an indentation on a top surface of the sample by applying a downward force along a vertical axis, the axis perpendicular to the top surface of the sample; providing a breaking pin located under the sample to touch the bottom surface of the sample at a position that is directly opposite from the indentation; and, a cleaving bar for applying a downward force on the sample by providing a left side and right side breaker pin wherein the downward force comprises a left-side downward force extended through the left-side breaker pin and right-side downward force through the right side breaker pin. Further, the pins that provide the left-side and right-side downward force are disposed on a breaker bar and arranged to be on opposite sides of a vertical axis that extends through the indentation on the top surface.
Nick breaking device
A nick breaking device includes: a conveyor forming a transfer path on which a plate-shaped element having nicks formed thereon is transferred; and one or more pressing rollers provided on the transfer path of the nicks of the plate-shaped element so as to press the plate-shaped element such that the plate-shaped element is transferred while having a continuous wave shape and to break the nicks formed on the plate-shaped element.
ARRANGEMENT FOR A MACHINE FOR BREAKING EGGS AND SEPARATING THE EGG YOLK AND THE EGG WHITE
A machine which includes a structure and, wherein the structure has a conveyor belt, and the structure has a rotary carousel, including a plurality of cutting devices, as well as a convex tray, which conducts the egg yolk and the egg white to a compartment and a tapered compartment; the machine also includes, to dispose of the egg shells, a compartment for housing the egg shells; where the egg yolk and egg white are separated by a compartment which conducts the egg yolk and egg white to a second tapered compartment, such that in the last tapered compartment, which is provided with an open slit, the egg white drains through the slit, while the egg yolk follows the regular flow to another container, the egg shells in turn being directed to a convex tray until proceeding to another container.
TABLET SPLITTER
A tablet splitter has a top portion that includes a splitting wedge with first and second angled sides defining a leading edge, and a bottom portion that includes a platform. The platform has a flexible matrix and a flexible tablet stabilizer disposed atop the flexible matrix for holding a tablet. The leading edge of the splitting wedge contacts the tablet and causes the flexible matrix and the flexible tablet stabilizer to flex thereunder. The tablet splits in response to the contact with the splitting wedge upon receiving a sufficient amount of force.
Surgical rod scorer and method of use of the same
A surgical rod scorer is provided. The surgical rod scorer includes a pair of elongated shaft members that are pivotably coupled to one another and movable from a spaced-apart configuration to an approximated configuration. Each of the shaft members includes a handle member that is configured for gripping by a user and jaw member that is configured to support respective first and second cutting assemblies thereon. The first and second cutting assemblies each include one or more cutting elements thereon configured and dimensioned to score surgical rod when the jaw members are in the approximated configuration and rotated about the surgical rod.
Cleaving fibers of differing composition
A method for cleaving a fiber comprises rotating an actuator to apply a positioning force to a blade in a scoring assembly. The positioning force produces a score in the surface of a fiber, and the method further comprise applying a cleaving force to the fiber to cleave the fiber. The method can further include measuring the magnitude of the positioning force and rotating the actuator until the magnitude corresponds to a pre-determined magnitude. A cleaver comprises a scoring assembly, drive assembly, and a cleaving assembly. The scoring assembly includes a holder having one or more blades, and an actuator. The cleaving assembly secures a fiber in the scoring assembly. The drive assembly rotates the actuator to position one or more blades to score the surface of the fiber. The cleaving assembly applies a cleaving force to the fiber to cleave the fiber at the location of the score.

An instant lottery ticket vending machine including a machine housing, a ticket pack holder positioned in the machine housing and including a plurality of ticket pack drawers that are each configured to hold a pack of instant lottery tickets, a ticket receptacle supported by the machine housing, and a ticket burster positioned in the machine housing, wherein the ticket burster movable into a plurality of different ticket receipt positions respectively associated with and in alignment with a different one of the ticket pack drawers, wherein in each ticket receipt position, the ticket burster is configured to receive from the ticket pack drawer associated with that ticket receipt position an instant lottery ticket attached to a next instant lottery ticket, and wherein the ticket burster is configured to separate the instant lottery ticket from the next instant lottery ticket and dispense the instant lottery ticket into the ticket receptacle.
