A cutting apparatus is disclosed for separating, intermittently, receipts or tickets from a continuous strip of material, in which the strip is cut by a stationary blade when the user tensions the strip by pulling an end thereof, in which the cut margin of the strip is disengaged from the blade by virtue of an elastically movable element that has a non cutting edge extending in length next to the entire length of a cutting edge of the blade, and in which the strip tensioned during the cut pushes the non cutting edge in a recessing position with respect to the cutting edge and after cutting the non cutting edge returns elastically to a protruding position beyond the cutting edge.

The dispenser housing also can include a dispensing mechanism to drive the sheet material along a discharge path from the dispenser housing through the discharge upon receiving a signal from the control circuit, and a tear bar mounted within the dispenser housing for severance of the sheet material by a user. A support core includes a tube body for holding a device in an expanded state, a low-friction film disposed over an outer surface of the tube body, and a fixing device for holding the film in place, the fixing device comprising a loop of tape wrapped longitudinally over the film and through the tube body, or a tab on the film that is affixed to the tube body. To remove the tube body, the tape and/or film are cut so that the film can slide towards the front end of the tube body, and the tube body is then pulled out of the device.
