Tree trimming apparatus and method

An apparatus and method for removing the tops of trees, the apparatus including a rotatable first boom configured for coupling to and extending vertically downward from an aircraft and a cutting assembly hingedly coupled to a bottom end portion of the first boom. The cutting assembly includes a housing containing a motor, the housing having an upper portion coupled to the bottom end portion of the first boom. A second boom extends from a lower portion of the housing and supports thereon a singular circular saw which is operatively coupled to the motor. The second boom is arranged at an angle of about 30° to about 55° relative to the first boom. This accomplished by including bend within the housing.

SAW CART

A cart for carrying a saw having a saw blade, a motor drivably coupled to the saw blade, a saw control unit to selectively activate the motor in response to a first input control signal from a trigger, and a first connector in communication with the saw control unit. The cart includes a remote actuation system having a cart control unit, a throttle configured to provide an input to the cart control unit, and a second connector configured to connect with the first connector of the saw. The cart also includes a wire interconnecting the cart control unit and the first connector. The wire configured to transmit a second input control signal from the cart control unit to the saw control unit upon receiving the input from the throttle, via the first and second connectors, to selectively activate and vary a rotational speed of the motor and the saw blade.

Aerial saw

An aerial saw is provided, including an elongated arm having a proximal end and a distal end; a saw blade rotatably connected to the elongated arm; an engine enclosure having a distal end and a proximal end, the engine enclosure coupled to the elongated arm; and a saw attachment member connected to the saw assembly between saw blade and the proximal end of the engine enclosure; the saw attachment member connected to a support structure at a first connection point.

Simulated bog-down system and method for power tools. One power tool according to an example embodiment includes a power source and a motor selectively coupled to the power source. The motor includes a rotor and stator windings. The power tool includes an actuator configured to generate a drive request signal and a power switching network configured to selectively couple the power source to the stator windings of the motor. The power tool includes an electronic processor coupled to the power source, the actuator, and the power switching network. The electronic processor is configured to detect a load on the power tool and compare the load to a threshold. The electronic processor is configured to determine that the load is greater than the threshold, and to control the power switching network to simulate bog-down in response to determining that the load is greater than the threshold.
