Powered handheld cutting tool

A handheld cutting tool includes a motor, a driven gear coupled to the motor for receiving torque therefrom and a sprocket coupled for co-rotation with the driven gear, a handle guard extending from handle portion, a chain supported on a guide bar and engaged with the sprocket such that rotation of the sprocket moves the chain along the guide bar, and a battery pack removably coupled to an end of the handle portion. The handle guard includes a support face configured to support the handheld cutting tool on a horizontal support surface, and the battery pack includes a foot portion. A center of gravity of the handheld cutting tool is located above the foot portion and permits balancing of the handheld cutting tool in an upright position on only the foot portion.

A cutting tool that contains the cutting forces within its assembly. The cutting tool includes an outside housing that attaches multiple jaws, attachment points for jaw clamping, anchor point to secure clamping forces, a bearing surface to allow saw bar movement, handles for user movement, and protection for internal components used in its operation. The jaws include interlocking gears to synchronize rotation, cross bracing, jaw clamping attachments points, and tie-offs for hoisting rope. The saw bar and chain electric motor attach to a rotation tube that is rotated by a worm gear situated at opposite end. Electrical power contained within the main housing is transferred to electrical chain motor using an electric rotary joint. The electric batteries and electric motor controller, electrical power switch and electrical fuse is contained within the main housing. Electro-pneumatic valves are situated in a separate housing and used for chain motor activation.

Trigger lockout with dissimilar actions

A control assembly for selectively controlling actuation of an electric motor arranged to power a hand-held power tool based on combined performance of two dissimilar operator actions and a hand-held power tool including such a control assembly. A switch member may be closed responsive to an enabling action including a first of the two dissimilar operator actions. A throttle control member becomes operable responsive to actuation of the throttle control member past a first movement threshold, i.e. a second dissimilar operator action, while the switch member is in the actuated state. The throttle control member remains repeatedly operable above a second movement threshold, even if the switch member is opened. Actuation of the throttle control member to below the second movement threshold will render the throttle control member non-operable until renewed combined performance of the first and second dissimilar operator actions.

STOP WITH HOOK ATTACHABLE TO CHAINSAW BAR

A stop has an elongate form between a base and a tip, with the base configured to be attachable to a chainsaw bar closer to a free end of the bar than to a housing of the chainsaw. The stop extends below a lower edge of the bar. Fasteners pass through holes in the stop and through holes in the bar for attachment. Positioning of the stop separates a tip space from a main space where chain teeth can cut wooden material. Smaller branches can conveniently be cut in the tip space while larger wooden material can be cut in the main space. The stop is configured to include clearance for the chain to pass thereby, such as by including standoffs adjacent to holes at the base, or by providing a clearance groove or bend. The stop can include a hook to facilitate engagement with and moving of small objects.
